I was talking with my 56 year old father the other day who is very old school. And he made the comment that black kids should go back to HBCU'S because these big time programs use them and when they slip up they push them away and catch all kind of hell for getting the program in trouble like Terrell Pyor. I told him it's the exposure they get from the big time programs through tv etc to get to the next level.

Now you have to keep in mind that when my father grew up most of the black athletes were at HBCU'S especially in the south. Or they went up north or out west. I just thought this was interesting.

I'm pretty sure Pryor would have been a dumbass even if he attended an HBCU, so I'm not sure how this would really change anything.

Sounds like whitey hating is the root of the comment. Just my read.

Race has nothing to do with it. If Pryor was white he'd be receiving same treatment

No offense Grizz, but it sounds like your dad is hating on whitey, when Pryor is solely to blame for his selfish behavior and sense of entitlement.

No HS player with Pryor's HS accolades would go to an HBCU when he could play on TV just about every week at a school like Ohio State/Texas/Bama/etc. He was the #1 recruit in the nation.

Yeah that's why I am saying race has nothing to do with it

Maybe he is.... I tried to explain to him what you stated in your 2nd paragraph. I started this thread to stir the pot because I'm bored lol. But this was just my old mans opinion not mine. I still love'em lol

Yeah Terrelle Pryor is only catching heat because he's black, not because he's a self-righteous, inconsiderate douchebag. Tell your dad that maybe instead of blaming whites, he should blame the dumbass that cared about nothing but himself. Or just keep blaming everyone else for your problems and have fun cheering on some no name HBCU surrounded by 300 fans.

I don't care either way. But this was no one's fault but Pryor's. How your dad could spin that any other way amazes me.

I get it...my father will be 78 in October and graduated from Florida A&M, as did my mother, grandmother, several aunts and countless cousins.

I chose UF primarily because it was close enough to home (Jacksonville), and nobody knew me as so-and-so's kid/nephew/cousin in Gainesville.

I agree it's pryors fault. He's not blaming "whitey" he feels that black kids gets dumped on in the end. He did say it was stupid for what he done but when it's all over they don't care about the kid.

And in many cases the kid doesn't give a damn about the free education he's been given.
