Yeah, he got into the 8th, he got the win, he kept his pitch count low...but the thing that impressed me most was that an 18 year-old freshman gives up a deep home run on the first pitch, then has enough composure to settle in and dominate the next 7 innings.

That kid showed a lot of mental toughness today. He could’ve been rattled. Most freshmen would’ve been. Instead, he was laser-focused after that home run.

Just from watching him the past few weeks, he looks like a really talented pitcher. He's starting to develop the competitive arrogance you want to see in a pitcher. In addition to his mental toughness, when he adds 20/25 pounds to that frame, and gets some more experience on the hill, he will be a pitcher the pros covet. I think we're watching a future star.

Yeah he just wasnt throwing today....he was pitching...and that's unusual for a freshman. Very impressed with his abilities!

Blade is from my hometown. He came up after Ryan Weathers. He’s a helluva athlete and great competitor.
Yeah, last Sunday I was sitting at Dreamlands in Tuscaloosa waiting on my ribs to arrive, and the guy on TV caught my eye. I was like, that looks like Ryan Weathers; about that time they flashed his name on the screen. I was like OMG it is. That was the first time I had seen him pitch, and today was the first time I had seen Blade pitch too.

Just curious, but is Ronnie Hartsfield still around there? He played for us from 1978-1981. Seems like he was from the Lawrenceburg/Loretto area.

He is a 1st round lock next season. The staff will do some more damage on the recruiting trail with the development of another 1st rounder on their resume. Their first one didn’t spend a day in the minors.
