Butch Jones[edit]On December 7, 2012, Butch Jones became the 23rd head coach of the Vols. In his inaugural season at UT, Jones has stressed the importance of rebuilding the football program itself, as well as the culture at Tennessee, and providing much-needed coaching stability for the Vols. Jones has also reiterated the significance to the team, UT, and the legions of fans of leading the Volunteers to their first winning season since 2009 and getting and winning a postseason bowl berth for the first time since 2010 and 2007, respectively.[22] Jones led the Vols to a 23-21 win over #11 South Carolina on October 19, 2013, marking the first time that the team won over a ranked team since 2009 and a team ranked in the top 15 since 2007, when they beat the then-ranked #15 Gamecocks 27-24 in overtime.
Jones gained a second signature win just two weeks later, defeating the 10th ranked Missouri Tigers in a 72-10 rout in Columbia Missouri on November 2,2013.[23]
