After roughly half a year of fostering our blue tick coonhound, Blue Belle, my wife and I have decided that it is time for her to find a permanent home. She is a sweet girl that needs more time and dedicated attention than what my work schedule and my wife's school schedule can allow. She is fully potty trained, knows all of her basic commands (sit, down, stay, roll over, etc.), loves people, could be an only child or live with other dogs, loves laying in sunshine, and will do anything for a treat. She is about two years old and 55 pounds. She is up to date on all her shots and heart worm negative. We can provide a copy of her vet records. She still has some areas of improvement she could work on, but has shown progress over the past few months. She would NOT make a good hunting dog (she's a wimp and gun shots scare her), but any family that is willing to provide her a loving home should contact me for details about her. We'll talk things over with you and let you know all about her. Our main priority is to find her a loving home. The time it takes to do so is not an issue, so dog neglectors need not ask. Note: this dog is currently located in Michigan. I am willing to drive to some extent to deliver her, but please do not make it excessive.

Man, I would in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I live in the city and don't have the space for a dog like that

Would love to take her if it wasn't so far. Where in Michigan are you located?

I personally don't need a dog but anyone in or around East TN could meet roughly halfway in Cincinnati possibly?

Taking into account that she's not a hunting hound, how much does she retain of being a hound? How much outdoor time does she currently get?

Not entirely sure what you mean by this.... Other than being a wimp and choosing flight over fight every time, she acts like all other hounds I've ever met. She is highly intelligent, trainable with a consistent hand (hounds are notoriously stubborn), can smell food out (though she doesn't really follow it to a fault), and loves attention. Short and sweet is she would be a great family dog, but don't expect her to tree anything. She was outside on our property a good bit this summer but with the turn in temperature here lately that has been reduced.

I was really just curious how much her instincts are still there. Like the treeing. I have a house with some yard, but not much. I didn't know if the reason she wasn't much of a hunter was because she was kind of converted to a more inside dog with routine walks as opposed to staying out for extended periods of time. I don't have the land for that type of dog.

She was a rescue found scavenging for food. So the primary reason she isn't a hunter was lack of nourishment, training, and exposure as a puppy. But by all means she looks, acts, howls, and smells the part of a hound. She greatly prefers being as warm as possible, so being an indoor dog is definitely possible. Like I said due to weather she has been virtually an inside dog for 2 months now. We have roughly a 2000 sq foot house for reference. No problems with her being indoors. Just some precautions about leaving food out that applies to 90% of dogs anyhow. Also would need a crate for when you leave her unattended, but that's about it. I would say if making her purely an inside dog plan on getting her on a walk or at a park a few times a week. Most days she is rather lazy though, wanting to play a bit in the morning but just laying around all afternoon and evening.

Sounds like any city hound we have ever had lol. They have all been beagles though so different story I guess. She's beautiful but I would need more room to let her run :(

Blue is still available. We'll be in southern middle Tennessee (think jack Daniels area) visiting family for Thanksgiving. We could meet anyone with her in Thursday through Saturday if that helps.

We're still looking for a good home for Blue. We will be coming back again to Middle Tennessee on December 18. We could arrange and meet with anyone between then and the end of the year if they are interested. We could also meet in East Tennessee (around Knox) as I'll be going that way to see my sisters too.

I could meet you near Knoxville if she's still available when you're in.

I would be very interested. I'm actually in the process of purcashing another Bluetick puppy from Davis Branch. She will be Smokey X's sister. Email me if she is still available. Walls jm1@gmail.com
