We are searching for a good home for an approximately 2 year old blue tick hound. He was found by an acquaintance being neglected. We took him on to help find a home and bring him back up to health. He is a great dog but the breed is a heavy, strong dog that we cannot keep in our current setup - no fenced yard. Add to the fact we just adopted a 1 year old girl and him running around the house does not provide a safe environment.

We were told to ask for money for him to make sure it is more likely to find a good home. But we feel like this should be a safe enough forum of Vols to find a good enough home for him for free. We live just outside of Athens, GA. If you are interested let me know.

I would love to take him if we didn't already have 3 dogs

If you were closer my friend. I have a 2 year female. She's spoiled silly. Along with my golden retriever.

Not sure if full blooded. A friend who is a vet told me he definitely looks the part but because he is a rescue we are not 100% sure. I will try to get a pic later tonight.

The picture does not do him justice. He looks smaller than he is. Hunting instinct, trees a pair of outdoor cats that hang out outside our house, and has the bark and howl we love to hear on Saturdays.

He is a good dog but is stocky and strong. His name was Blue when we got him and we left it as that.

Does he kill or just chase animals?...

Have a farm and love having a hound as it keeps the coyotes and bobcats away. But I know once they get a hold of a cat, chicken etc its hard to get them to stop. The black and tan, only went after animals that were obviously not supposed to be there..

Good looking pup btw

He is just about treeing them or running them off. And he really just actively does it with the two cats that hang outside our front door. He will chase them and tree them, then howl. If he's been close he just gets in their face and growls and barks. Since we've had him he's never attacked to the point of biting and killing.

I've been waiting for cavolfn to reply back. I'm on the road right now. Just for me or anyone else. Would you be able to meet anywhere like halfway? To a point.
