Quick question do you think Bo stays at Oregon for another year or go to the NFL? Rumor is that his first year NFL salary will be lower than his NIL money.

Thoughts...

Does the NIL, which <wink, wink> isn't connected to a school or play, stop if he goes pro? I'm sure pro players get endorsements too.

Edit: it makes no sense to stay if he thinks he's ready and can make the league. One more year of NIL vs multi year rookie deal in the NFL and perhaps beyond. What's to gain by staying?

Good points. Don't know if the NIL goes away, it would probably be replaced by other contracts of endorsement.

If he’s really making that much I’d stay another year

I personally think he will be more successful as a college QB. I just don't think he has an NFL arm. He's one hell of a competitor and I'd expect him to be a solid NFL QB just not a star QB

Honestly, he's not going to be a star QB in college either, is he? I think it's very unlikely he has a "break out year" and raises his draft stock very much.

If he's ready now and can hold a clipboard, wear a headset and mop up/backup in the NFL respectably, he'll have a comfortable and good career. That's more than most college QBs could ever hope for.

I actually think he could win the Heisman at Oregon next year. He's definitely not the same QB he was at Auburn or early this year at Oregon. If he didn't get hurt late in the year I think Oregon makes the playoffs. We lost two games with him playing on one leg. And those were close. The guy is a really tough competitor. Reminds me a bit of Marcus Mariota.

Interesting take. "I don't think he's good enough to play at the pro level, but I think he's got a good chance at the Heisman."

Caleb Williams is. Bryce Young is. Joe Burrow was. Kyler Murray was (debatable, I'll agree,) Mayfield is an idiot......

If Nix is Heisman material, he'd be ready for the league. You don't think he is, but you think he is.

This was, by far, his best year. Do you think he still has room for significant improvement on the collegiate level?

For those who haven't kept close track on him since he left the SEC, Nix threw for 1,100 yards more than in 2021, more than doubled his touchdown pass total from the previous year, and improved completion percentage by 10.5 % to 71.5. By comparison, his completion % for his three years at Auburn was only 59.4%, and he completed only 39 TD passes in those three years (vs. 27 in 2022).

Lots of Heisman winners have been busts in the NFL. I just think a couple things make him a better college qb than NFL qb. First, he can run and that works better at the college level. Second, the NFL likes QBs with cannons for arms, that's not Nix. Hence my comments.

Sure I think he can be better at the college level. A season without injury and the experience of success can greatly improve his numbers.

I think he should transfer to Auburn and lead AU to the SEC West title.

A friend of mine's brother just became AD at Auburn, he hired Leach which I'd call a successful gamble now he's on to Auburn. I'd consider Auburn a better opportunity. We'll see.

I agree entirely but recent Heisman guys have been NFL ready. I'm not against Nix getting another year of college but I'm not sure he'll benefit that much...... unless he does ball out and win the Heisman.

Some of his calculus may be looking at the QB draft class for this year and next.

Winning the Heisman doesn’t necessarily equate to being a NFL - caliber player. If you’re at a P5 program with a favorable schedule, solid coaching, surrounded by a lot of talent, etc… You could very well end up winning it and not doing much in the pros. I think back to players like Manziel and Tebow. Both are widely regarded as two of the best college QB’s of all time, but neither were built for the NFL.

Edit: I see where you already acknowledged this point

Tebow was a throwback QB, even for college. Great athlete but he wasn't even near a typical college QB.

Manziel was the luckiest coke head since Neil Young. There was no reason for his success except being smiled on by the Gods.

The more I think about Nix, the more I think he should stay another year. I dislike the NIL risk vs an NFL guaranteed contract, normally, but he got no decent coaching from Auburn and will at Oregon.

He should go. His star isn't going to rise any more than it is now. Get in the league a year sooner, work your way to a second contract a year sooner.

That’s a terrible take. Danny Wuerffel,
Jason White, Troy White, Eric Crouch, Tebow. None of them were “league” material yet all won a Heisman.
