As historic of a program that OU is, it is imperative that they play tu every year. OU has to keep its foothold in Texas.

He will still want to play a Texas school just for the recruiting. It could be the Horns or A&M.

They could drop Texas though, they quit playing Nebraska and that was a bigger rivalry too them.

They would still have a foothold. The state of Oklahoma isn't going anywhere.

Any more details? I just heard them talking about it on ESPN radio down here. Didnt get to hear it all.

It just said that Stoops said he feels like if they go to the Pac 12 and Texas stays or goes independent. That he can go with out playing Texas every year. Short term he said he could do with out the Texas vs OU match up.

Can you imagine how strong the SECW would be if OU and A&M joined? The East would need to bring in a STRONG team to keep pace. But I don't see OU going anywhere without lil bro OSU.

Why the heck can't we bypass WV, take MIzzou, OK & Ok ST. I'd rather have an OK ST tag along than see the PAC pick up TX and OU while we get WV and TT or whatever other small also ran we'd be left to choose.

Got to get somebody in the east for balance.

Translation:Oklahoma only has one legitimate challenge per year that should keep them out of the title game. Stoops wants one less challenge per year that should keep them out of the title game.

This is what I gathered from reading an Oklahoma message board:

Oklahoma doesn't want to come to the SEC, they see us as inferrior to them even though the University ranks right in the middle of academics of all SEC schools. Also, they think by playing in the PAC that recruiting California is going to make them a powerhouse program that will not be able to be matched by anyone else in the country. They think if the go to the SEC, even if they win a national championship it wouldn't really have an effect on recruiting because they would still just be another SEC team.

This part is 100% true. They wouldn't be the big dog they are now in the Big 12. They would be on par with LSU, bama, UF, etc. They wouldn't be winning conference titles every other year. If they go to the PAC, the chances of being dominant in that conference are pretty good.
