I was listening on the radio , they were talking about the retirement of jerseys. They mentioned Al Wilson , Eric Berry , John Henderson . Does nobody really think the Vols ONLY three time all-american worthy. Has a national championship and member of the last undefeated unscored upon team in the ncaa. I mean these other guys were great but this guy was on another level . Before all of the "UT football didn't begin until the 90's" group chimes in look this guy up.

I agree & UT has been good at FB since the 1920s. We're no Johnny-come-lately!

The Vols had 3 All-Americans in one year. I doubt anyone has repeated that.

Making all American as a sophomore is a feat for sure. If I remember correctly, at that time freshmen couldn't play so he may have made AA his first year playing. Bad dude.

I'm fine with retiring jerseys, I'm fine if they don't retire them. The main thing for me is that they find a way to recognize certain guys in a consistent fashion. Anyone trashing you for wanting Suffrage honored...is trash.

I think if ANYBODY should be honored its Suffrage. To me he falls in the same category as Peyton, White, and actually above Majors, Berry, Wilson , and those guys. And that is taking Nothing and I mean NOTHING away from those guys. UT needs to make it happen. To retire others with nowhere near the resume is a slap in the face. I am also in the crowd that says we shouldn't have a stadium with a ridiculous amount of retired jerseys. You should have to have done some unheard of things to earn that honor(" and I know I am going to get slaughtered for this") and not just donate lots of money to get it done.

Alabama had 4 1st team AA's this past year and 4 in 2011. Bama had 6 in 2009.

LSU had 3 1st team AA's in 2011 as well.

The current policy is to retire jerseys but not the numbers. It makes sense to avoid having 3 and 4 digit numbers on the field.

He has all the objective credentials and was the best player on the top team in the nation during years when he played. He absolutely dominated his era. Played 3 years at Tennessee and was ALL-AMERICAN EVERY YEAR AND TENNESSEE WAS UNDEFEATED all 3 YEARS. So, on teams he played on, he had an undefeated record of 30-0 and the General said he was the best lineman that he ever coached.....If judging by what he did at TENNESSEE, nobody is more deserving except General Robert Neyland.
