Bobby Bowden Florida State: Bobby Bowden, former Florida State coach, set to deliver "emotional" announcement, according to report - OrlandoSentinel.com

TALLAHASSEE -- According to a tweet late Monday night from a news anchor at a Tallahassee television station, former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden is set to make an "emotional" announcement Tuesday morning on ABC's "Good Morning America." The tweet says it is about his health.

In an email to the Sentinel, Bowden's public relations secretary Kimberly Shiff said the information was supposed to be embargoed until Tuesday morning. As a result, she said she couldn't provide any details on the matter.

FSU officials have not made a comment.

The tweets in question came from WTXL news anchor Anne Imanuel's @AnneImanuel account. They read:
"Bobby Bowden scheduled to make an 'emotional' announcement on @GMA tomorrow morning. Working to get details!"

And: "Just spoke to an @GMA producer. The Bobby Bowden 'emotional announcement' won't be released until tomorrow AM but it concerns his health."

While the news was causing an uproar on Twitter, FSU fans chimed in with their concerns that something was wrong with Bowden. Some members of the FSU media tried to calm their fears, saying that the announcement had nothing to do with Bowden's health, but that it was important.

Anybody have any clue what this is about? Watching Bobby those last few years, it didn't seem like he was "All there"... But I mean, he's in his eighties... That's pretty normal, right?

Sucks to hear, though... Good man.

Hope it's nothing too serious, or life-threatening. Bowden was one of my favorite coaches.

If it wasn't serious then why go on GMA, a nationally-televised show viewed by millions to announce something? If it wasn't serious then why not just make a statement to ESPN or something. That's what I don't get.

Maybe it's nothing bad at all. Maybe by "health-related" he means he feels healthy enough to return to coaching and wants a shot at the UGA job when Richt gets canned?

FSU to SEC-Book it!!

I actually like your thinking on this, but Bowden and FSU aren't on good terms. I can't imagine they would let him make the announcement. But this is very intriguing.

It is hard to get your mind around other/rival coaches using that bit of information against him in recruiting....but you know for a fact they would.

It's an ugly world man.
