Cremins takes College of Charleston job
I got a call about this earlier today. Given how the whole thing with Gregg Marshall played out, CoC must have a great sense of the ironic to hire Cremins. I've heard from other coaches that Cremins and Fogler have both been trying to get back in the last couple of years. Cremins tried to get involved with St. John's and Seton Hall, but found no interest from those schools.

WOW..glad to see him back...good coach and recruiter.
I'll give you good recruiter. I don't think anyone ever confused him with Pete Newell as a strategist.

Definitely not bad. But like Hat said, Cremins had a knack for getting kids to come south, but was never the greatest X and O guy. He basically put the ball in Kenny Anderson, Stephon Marbury or Travis Best's hands and said go.

It's not bad. It's nothing to send him to Springfield for either. Look at his personnel. He wasn't hurting for talent. I can think of a certain football coach in the SEC that I would consider a pigskin equivalent of Cremins.

Don't forget Mark Price.

Probably the best pure PG of the bunch.
If Price's knees hadn't gone bad, the history of the Eastern Conference in the late '80s and early '90s might have been very different. The Cavs were on the verge of being very good.

I was at the old Omni in Atlanta the night that he slammed his knee into the scorer's table and he was never the same afterwards. Price's knees and Michael Jordan hitting that shot over Craig Ehlo pretty much sealed the Cavs' fate.

Brad Daughtery's back didn't help matters either.

The Cavs just had a small window of opportunity and it unforunately coincided with the tail end of the Celtics greatness and the rise of the Pistons and Bulls. The East was loaded.

He went like 1-27 his last two yrs in conference....hated seeing him go out like that.

The Hawks weren't bad either. Barkley's Sixers were pretty good.

Is that a pun? Wasn't Peterson in the running for that job?

CoC did contact him. Marshall was their guy all the way. Anyone else was a fallback choice.

Maybe the traffic on 278 was getting tiresome. To me, Hilton Head should be renamed Hilton Headache. At least there's one less yankee in Beaufort County. It's a shame that the Lowcountry of this great state is turning into Florida, another retirement location for yankees.

What part of town? I love West Columbia. It's convenient to everything, plus it's in Lexington County. The first order of business for me after graduating from Carolina was to get out of the city.
