Per Courier Journal: http://www.courier-journal.com/arti...n-Kentucky-football-coaching-job-were-offered

You knew it was only a matter of time…and here it is. Bobby Petrino tells the Courier Journal that his son is interested in the UK job. He said:
“I know he wants a job; he needs a job,” Petrino Sr. said by telephone Wednesday. “He told me, ‘I need a job, Dad.’ I said, ‘Well, you must still have some money. You made 31/2 million dollars.’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I do. It’s not the money.’ He just misses coaching so much.”

“I just know this, that he’s interested in Kentucky,” the father said.

Won't happen. Calipari won't let the football program take away from him and his private (team) jet. Did it at Memphis. He can't stand attention to be drawn away from him.

Would be a good fit at Kentucky. He gets more out of less and after reestablishing himself he could bolt again to greener pastures.

I don't think BP ends up at UK. He's too much of a big name for Mitch Barnhart to get for their football team.

If he ends up there that will make things interesting for the East

However, I just don't see it

[obligatory joke]what, did UK hire a bunch of blonde grad assistants?[/joke]

I think he would be good for UK. However, I don't think UK wants him. I would be surprised if he winds up there.

You realize Memphis football had the most successful stretch of its miserable existence while Cal was still there, right?

Yup. I remember a certain team in orange, led by the "greatest of all time" who fell to the all mighty Tiger High.

but CBP will get a better job than Kentucky. I'm sure he'll listen but I'd hold off if I was him.

If Petrino is interested and available and UK doesn't even talk to them, they're stupid.

I don't think he was referring to the 96 game; Calipari didn't get to Memphis until 2000.

Johnson, the former head coach of the Miami Hurricanes, Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins, told Gino Torretta and Jack Arute on their Sirius XM radio show:

"Some people might laugh but I'm serious about it. If they want an outstanding coach they ought to bring back Petrino or hire Butch Davis. And people say, 'Well how in the world can you bring back Petrino?' I said, 'Listen, you forgave Bill Clinton.' Forgive the man. Forgive the man for making a bad decision. Give him an opportunity to coach again.

"I mean he wants to get back into coaching and he's a great coach and he made a mistake. This whole country, it's built on forgiving people and giving them second chances. And I think the fan base would love to bring him back."

No way would arkansas ever hire him back; it likely would re-open them up to way too much

I would totally hire Petrino if I were UK, even if it only meant having him for a few years.

The latest word on it though has seemed to imply the only way it'd work out that way would be for the new UK President to step in and force the AD to hire him (and that's felt to be an unlikely scenario)
