Revised bill.

Short term debt money.

If he wants more he has to pass the bba and come back for more later.

I'm ok with it.

Surprisingly I am too. Id given anything for a balanced budget amendment I just don't think it'll happen.

Then he only gets 900 billion more.

The bill that was passed is a trap.

I love it.

let's re-visit this right when he's running for office.

But that's the thing I don't want them to play politics over our fiscal policy. I guess that's the way the game works, im just tired of the political theater.

I kinda agree. But in this case, we need all the tools we can use to get olliebaba out of there.

It preserves it as an issue that the GOP can beat the Dems to death with. It would almost have been better for the Dems to let it go through.

I do have some respect for the true liberals though who are opposing it as a matter of conscience. I think they're wrong... but that stance is respectable.

True. Im just so tired of partisan politics on both sides. I have zero confidence in any of them.

I understand the fatigue but "partisan" politics are necessary, right? What is the alternative? How well have single party systems worked historically?

FWIW, having zero confidence in "them" should make you a conservative or libertarian. The only solution to "them" is to take their power and money away from "them".

Personally, my choices are mostly conservative. However I see being politically libertarian (small L) as the only way to truly ensure that I am able to keep that freedom.

That's one of the big problems I always had with guys like James Dobson. I mostly agreed with what he wanted our society to be like. However if you use gov't power to get there then you have justified the use of gov't power to do something completely different.

If the prohibition of states recognizing homosexual marriage is legit... then so is the foisting of homosexual marriage on states. Any "victory" we might "win" legitimizes the weapon we used.

I really wish states had real rights and sovereignty as was intended originally.

That's the smart play. It also forces Americans to have the conversation at election time, as well.

What about the crisis?

Why couldn't he table and shell the bill last week? Start the debate and compromise there. With Aug 2 four days away he is playing with the lively hood of the entire country considering the looming disaster next Tue. I can't believe he is this irresponsible.

My best LG.

Part of me feels like they should have moved for tax breaks rather than debt control....especially after the GDP numbers today. They should have also done much better framing the debate. Raising the debt is the GOP compromise...now what do they get.

This is not just about raising the debit ceiling but how high or long its extended.

Thank you senator Schumer for clearing that up.

Can't wait to see the spin LG puts on this. This place will be spinning like the teacup ride at a county fair.

Bill is going to come from the Senate with tax raises in it.

Will come back to the House and the House will add the BBA in it. Pass it and send it back to the Senate.

At that point, Reid is screwed.

Will have to vote on bill and we will finally have a BBA.

TP has played this amazingly. I am very very impressed by these new members.

You're placing an awful lot of confidence in the GOP. I bet Reid rewrites the entire bill and the House passes it as is, because they "have to do something". I've seen the GOP fall apart too many times before to believe anything good happens here.

I have no faith in the GOP. Why I left the party.

I do have faith though that the few GOP that voted yes because the BBA was added to the JB bill will not vote yes on a REID bill if the BBA is not added. TP has numbers large enough in the house to screw this deal up.

This bill passed without TP support. What's to stop the revised bill from passing without it as well?
