I didn't see it posted, but didn't look too hard...

ESPN just reported that Boise State has accepted a bid to join the Mountain West...

Good for them, IMO.

Just announced on ESPN. Said official announcement would be this afternoon. Per Joe Schad

I'm surprised the MWC didn't stick to their original plan to wait at see how the Big12 shakeup turns out.

That doesn't preclude them from taking in the remnants of the Big 12. If anything, it puts the league at an even number of teams if Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Baylor join.

that's what i was thinking still easy to add 2 or 4 otherwise since they only have 9 members anyway. also if A&M goes to the SEC utah might jump ship to the pac-10.

Didn't they say just a few days ago that they would absolutely NOT be adding teams?

That's what I see happpening, if the Texas-Oklahoma crew end up in the Pac 16.

Good move by Boise. The only other option I see for them would be to wait and see what happens with the Pac 10. If the rest of the Big 12 turns down the Pac 10 and the conference is determined to expand to further, then Boise might be one of the best alternatives.

This move makes them more attractive to the Big 12's sloppy seconds.

anyone care to read much into this???

If the Big 12 dissolves and more expansion happens, it will get harder for non-BCS schools to make a BCS bowl. Banding together and making your conference stronger and schedules tougher is key for them.

why will it make it harder? You have 1 less automatic qualifier and the others will still be limited to 2 teams. Seems like the Big12 going away helps their cause (at least mathematically)

Boise St accepts invitation to join Mountain West

While this doesn't affect Tennessee, I found this interesting. Would be curious as to Justin Wilcox's thoughts.

I wonder if this is contingent on the MWC keeping their present members-from BSU's side of the agreement? It's a perfect fit for them as long as the better teams stay in conference. Otherwise, it's nothing.
