Might be the final nail in the big east conference coffin


2nd long standing conference that expansion has claimed (the first being football in the WAC)

The new Big East was going to be part of the lesser "group of 5" following the start of the playoffs...how was being part of that going to be any different than this?

San Diego State will probably go back to MWC. I wouldn't be surprised if Houston and SMU went there too or back to Cusa. And if I'm CUSA, I invite Uconn, Cincy and USF before Memphis. You guys are to free to believe that Memphis isn't in a bad spot but the Big East is about to be no more and you even mentioned going to the Sunbelt. How is that not being left in the cold? After the WAC breaks up, Sunbelt will be the worst conference.

Being in the Big East following the start of the playoffs wasn't going to be anything much more for their football program than being left out in the cold.


Now, basketball on the other hand...all this has been a big blow to them, there, since the big east was such a huge brand name in basketball

Not saying memphis is in a good place at all. CUSA may end up being better. Sunbelt is screwed

According to the article at ESPN.com, SDSU does want "back" into the MWC, and sounds like it will happen but the MWC apparently is going to make them sweat a bit.

If SDSU is allowed back in, that will give the MWC 12 teams and I assume a conference championship.
