BREAKING NEWS: From University of Texas... "at 8:35 a.m. the university received a call from a male with a middle eastern accent claiming to have placed bombs all over campus. He said he was with Al Qaeda and these bombs would go off in 90 minutes. President Powers was notified and it was decided to evacuate all of the buildings out of an abundance of caution." More info to come

Happened at my high school back in the day about ten times. Of course it was a prank, most bombers don't want to give victims notice and chance for escape. He did accomplish making us all stand in the parking lot for ten school days.

No reason to take it lightly of course, however I doubt anything blows.

Someone didn't want to go to class.

That's what I was thinking but better safe than sorry. Would definitely get everyone out of there.

If it's a student trying to get out of class or some kind of prank, it's not cool and is far from funny.

They got notice at nearly 9 am but didnt evac until nearly 10. The warning indicated the timer was set for 90 minutes. If all of that is confirmed, I'd be one pissed off student. Hoax or not, you cant drag your feet on this crap anymore.

Should find dude and execute him

Only after a lengthy trial that costs lots of taxpayer money and after hearing how he was neglected as a youth and is using this as a way to release his anger upon a society that forgot about him

The thing about it that I have focused on is, given the time in between the warning and evacuation, I wonder if they conducted a preliminary search that uncovered something substantial enough to call for an evacuation.

Logistically, the campus in Austin is far more accessible than the actual capitol. I can see why it would be targeted strategically, furthermore, the new age in terrorism prides itself on publicity. It's not too far out of the realm of possibility to think they would "call to warn". Look at the media attention potential it creates. Bomb or no bomb, if its a legit terrorist group, in this case Al Q, they'd chalk this up as a victory of sorts in their own twisted and deranged perception of significance.

Lastly, eff terrorists.

Or someone wanted a class, or possibly a scheduled exam postponed.

I assumed that's what he meant by someone not wanting to go to class. I don't think you'd go to that length to avoid going to class unless it was a test or something. I imagine you'd just skip like a normal student who doesn't want to go to class.
