Is anyone suprised with how Bonds handled his mini press conference??? I feel like he is a broken man now both physically and mentally... A man who loves the game and his son so deeply that he feels like he must take the season off for his only child...

:eek:lol:

A man who loves his family so deeply that he carries on a nine year affair with a woman in another city. :bad:

A man who is a complete health nut, but somehow got duped into thinking that the stuff he was rubbing on his body was flax seed oil. :shakehead:

I really try to give him the benefit of the doubt, but how stupid does he think everybody is?

Hope he quits. Great player but, his breaking the most legendary record in baseball would be a travesty. Small parks, juiced balls, lowered mounds, expanded leagues, more games and of course... Balco. A sham. :bad:

Like they've said, steroids don't give you a .362 batting average.

...but steroids do allow you to maintain the amazing bat speed at age 40 that helps you hit .340.

. . . and have been rumored to contribute to an .812 slugging percentage. :yikes:

812!!!! That's friggin' ridiculous. .863, .799, .749 over the previous 3 years. ALL of them led the majors. . . . by an average of 130 points.

i disagree with the bat speed coment. i dont think it gives u the bat speed. and why does bonds need bat speed. other than griffey jr. he probably has the fastest bat in history.

by the way. has bonds ever, EVER failed a drug test? NO. when did we go from innnocent until proven guilty to the exact opposite.

lets quit convicting people of stuff before they get a fair trail.

this is america u guys, not iraq. lets be more american please

third best hitter ever. behind ted williams and ty cobb.
and cobb didnt play with minorities.

bonds is a minority.

Then why do they take the stuff - so they'll look better on their baseball card?

...and of course Bonds hasn't failed a drug test. They JUST started testing for steroids. Look, I don't know if he did or didn't, but the evidence is pretty damning given the change in his physical appearance, his connection to BALCO/Greg Anderson, the leaked Grand Jury testimony where he gave the lame "I didn't know what I was taking" answer.

Whether he did or not, I still think he is one of the top 10 hitters of all time. He was winning MVPs before anybody ever thought of steroids.

...and, oh yeah,
bonds is a minority.
Thanks for the heads up. :D

We live in a nation where media can make or break you in sports. No one can deny Barry Bonds has been under tremendous pressure from the media. However, when you CHOOSE to be a MLB player and take the checks, certain things go with that, Bonds doesnt seem prepared to stand up to his own actions. Hes in a situation he built, made his own bed. Hes a grown man, veteran, at 40 years old not a rookie, at anything ...a great player....but a seemingly immature 40 year old man.

Maybe he squandered a lot of his fortune and had to work a few more years to put back a nest egg. The only way to do that is make many millions over a short period. The only way to do that in your mid 30's to 40 years of age is to put up franchise numbers. The only way to do that is to play everyday, not wear down, and not lose your starting position to a younger more athletic player. The only way to do that is to bulk up. The only way to avoid criticism for it is to plead ignorance to what was in the needles you were getting shots with everyday. There's not many ways to have a bod like that when your our age. Roids, or be a bowfelx model and be 42 and in the best shape of your life.
