Boots, shoes and flip flops. Approved by OSHA or NCV67 but not both

I'm considering a used mountain style bike for riding the road by my house. Would most likely just use standard pedals with loops vs. step in cleats.
Since 2011, I’ve had “cages” on my pedals. They’ve worked well for me. A riding buddy has told me that they make mountain riding shoes that are flexible in the toe, now. Also, they make a “half pedal” that fits to the underside of mountain bike clips. He’s trying to talk me into getting some. I may check out the shoes and consider from there.

Look at cross terrain and gravel bikes that have or can take shock absorbing stems and seat posts before buying a mountain bike. They’re lighter, and weight matters as we age.

My problem is that I have Hobbit feet. Has to be at least a 4E.
Standard cages can be problematic for wide shoes. Check out how they fit/feel with your preferred sneaks at a bike shop before buying some. You can always tell the shop that you need to think about it.

Edit: I post from experience.

He definitely didn’t write it logically, but I knew there was no way he could wear a 4 😂😂😂
Well, it was entertaining to try to visualize a foot that was wider (I was just thinking an E, which seems plenty wide) than it was long! I truly didn't know that shoes came in that width, so it just didn't register on me at all.

@82_VOL_83 is the whole foot wide? It just like extra wide at the toes? I’m asking, because if it’s mostly in the toes, I’d recommend looking into Altras

An hour ine the pool and presto.View attachment 665752
I apologize if you've explained it already, but what causes it?

And why does the pool help? Cool water?

I've learned and my dad has confirmed, ice packs are a miracle cure for almost any pain. I believe if I could sit in an ice bath just 2-3 times a week, it would change my life. I honestly believe that. But I haven't been able to do it.

At my weight I think it's a combination of getting off my feet and the slight pressure increase from the pool. I try to get my ankles as deep as possible.

I’ve had peripheral edema (swelling of hands and feet) ever since I was a skinny little kid. My ring goes from tight to flying off my finger when I wave my hands in less than an hour. I have to hook my thumbs in my pack straps, elevating my hands so that they don’t hang down, when I go hiking. It just happens. 🤷🏼

Had to move my wedding ring to my right hand after losing weight. It was falling off my left all too often. When it’s on my left hand, I thumb it around frequently. I don’t do that when it’s on my right. Every now and then, someone will ask if I’m from Germany or got married there.

I envy you. Lol.
