**** MYERS, Fla. -- The Boston Red Sox are threatening to boycott their season-opening games in Japan unless their coaches and other staff are paid for making the trip.
Mike Lowell has told The Boston Globe the team voted unanimously not to take the field for their final spring training game or to board the plane later Wednesday for Japan.
Manager Terry Francona and his players are upset after learning the staff is not going to get a $40,000 stipend that the players are receiving. Francona had told his coaches they would be paid.
The World Series champions are to begin their season against Oakland with two games in Japan.
''When we voted to go to Japan, that was not a unanimous vote,'' Lowell told the Globe, "but we did what our team wanted us to do for Major League Baseball. They promised us the moon and the stars, and then when we committed, they started pulling back. It's not just the coaches, it's the staff, the trainers, a lot of people are affected by this.
"I'm so super proud of this team," Lowell said, according to the Globe. "When we put it to a vote it was unanimous, we're all in agreement that we're not going to put up with this.''

Good for them, MLB will give in, of course, too bad it took this to get the entire club their money.

Super duper proud.

I'm happy they said something. The coaches and staff are as much a part of the team as the 25 man roster is.

Nice, me and the boys are going 4/11 against the Yanks, sitting in the CF bleachers, about as far away as you can get, but almost directly in line with the plate.

A long way from the concessions, so we'll get oiled up at Punter's Pub, before moving to Gillian's to bowl and watch some college tail before game time.

Usually, after the kids are gone for the summer, you can find nice tickets for maybe $5 above face on Landsdowne for weekday games, Me and my buddy were 7 rows behind the visiting dugout against the Royals a few years ago for $95

since the day i was born.

When i was born, i was wanting a Championship, let alone a repeat! My, how times have changed....If you haven't noticed, the venom from the Yankee fans has become alot more harsh, as they now feel threatened.

That, or they flaunt championships 40 years before they were born, or call us classless for "Not acting like we've been there before"

Not many are fortunate enough to see the wonder that is the Royals. Consider yourself lucky.

and I thought Vols season ticket holders were overly sensitive.

lol, if you work 9-5 and can't be online/on the phone when regular season tix go on sale, and don't get drawn in the Yankees/RF bar/Monster Seat lottery, than you are resigned to whatever means possible to get tickets.

Shame on you for slapping me MG, i thought you were a good dude!!!!:hi: hahaha
