Boswell and Dubar Out vs. Gardner-Webb

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Two members of the University of Tennessee men's basketball team will not play in Monday night's season opener against Gardner-Webb.

Freshman guard Bishop Boswell (concussion protocol) and fifth-year guard Darlinstone Dubar (personal matter) are unavailable for the Volunteers. The status for both is day-to-day moving forward.

Boswell is a consensus top-75 recruit from Charlotte, N.C., who has yet to make his official college debut. Dubar, who also hails from Charlotte, was a Second Team All-CAA honoree at Hofstra last season.

Wouldn't mind if we had this guy right now. From Greeneville TN.

Article on OfftheHook sports indicated he did not play because he hasn't learned D system well enough for Barnes to play him. If that's true hope he get it soon. He is supposed to be a great offense shooter I thought.

The transfer undersized post just haven’t worked out. Anosike didn’t have the athleticism to play at this level, Ledlum left early in the summer, and now Dubar is out for unspecified personal reasons.

The portal is going to be hit or miss. We hit jackpot with Knecht and that’s going to be an exception. So much roster movement each year means it’s truly a roll of the dice.

Dubar is dealing with some personal health problems, a family situation and a tough time finding fit. The team is all in on supporting him. He’s made some breakthroughs on offense lately, but still gets lost on assignments. Nothing about his situation is bad attitude, poor effort etc. He’s just a young guy who is used to succeeding proportionally to effort and that is not happening. He couldn’t have a more supportive environment. We’ll have to wait to see what happens next.
