Bowl Game

This weekend has a very interesting game (vandy vs florida). If vandy wins the game, they will likely go to a bowl and FL will miss out on a bowl because their remaining schedule will be too tough. If florida wins, and assuming we beat vandy, vandy will not make it to a bowl this year. Pick your poison... win win as long as we beat vandy.

I hope Vandy looses so we can talk the same smack they talked all off-season about them being in a bowl.

Assuming we go bowling, I have read many projections having us go to the Liberty bowl against Marshall... I would love for that to happen, as a worst case scenario, that is.

If we make a bowl, I hope we get matched up against some terrible team that we can bulldoze.

I hope in years to come that the Vols will play in the Belk Bowl versus an ACC team and we can stay home right here in beautiful Charlotte, NC for the game.

Everyone is assuming we will win 2 of next 3 games to be 6 & 6. Whos to say we even get an invitation?

We will travel well to Memphis, Nashville, Birmingham or Atlanta. It is all about $$$$$ from the perspective of the bowl reps. in those cities.

With the schedule we've played winning 6 is more than enough. If we traded our schedule for Clemson's we would be 8-1 wins right now.

:eek:k:

A 6 win Tennessee team on the rise gets a bowl. We travel well and bowl committees know we will sell out wherever we go.

Any SEC team that is bowl eligible will be in a bowl game.

That's probably true, but if 12 SEC teams qualify, and there are only 11 SEC bowls, then a 6-6 SEC team will be left out if all other bowl slots can be filled without using 6-6 teams at at-larges. In other words, a 7-5 team from the MAC would fill an at-large spot before a 6-6 team from the SEC. That said, there will probably be enough SEC bowls for everyone who qualifies.

Well for one, the SEC agreements in place; which means there are roughly 10 spots.

There are 11 spots, unless the SEC champion does not make the NC game and instead goes to the Sugar Bowl, and none of the other BCS bowls pick up a second SEC team as an at-large. Then, there would be 10 spots, which would be very bad for a 6-6 Vanderbilt team (if Vandy loses to us but beats UK and Wake).

Vandy plays Florida, Kentucky (home), UT, Wake(home). They will win atleast 2 if not 3. UT being at home and coming off a bye will probably have UT favored by 3, but Vandy will be going bowling for the 3rd year in a row.

Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

And hilarious for the rest of us.

If we go 6-6, I don't see us going to Compass or Independence, because I just cannot see the Liberty Bowl passing on us. Music City may be urged by the SEC to pass on us if we're 6-6, and they have the option to take an 8- or 9-win team. But, the Liberty Bowl will probably be choosing between multiple 6-6 teams.

And hilarious for the rest of us.

I figure that if a bowl located outside of Florida is picking between 6-6 UT, 6-6 UF, and 6-6 VU, they'll take UT for the ticket sales, and whoever picks next will take UF for the TV ratings. This all goes up in smoke if Vandy comes in and beats us.

FU will fill up whatever stadium they go to down here. Unfortunately, they won't ever have to play outside the state...
