Alright then I personally think we need a playoff system. I know the bowls are not in favor but with the number of bowls Why not incorparte them into the system

A 16 team playoff

Any thoughts

I would be for a playoff but it's not happening any time soon.

When the NCAA and the schools can figure out how to make as much money on a playoff as they can with the bowls, then it will happen. The only thing I see is a hybrid, with lower tier teams in bowls, with upper tier teams in the playoff.

I'm in favor of a playoff also.

I don't see why they can't play the playoffs at the bowl sites and still make there money.

Winning all or all but one game in the SEC is tough!

Here's a playoff scenario I came up with a few years ago...

I'll use last season as an example.

(1) The selection process is:
-a- There will be 10 automatic qualifiers for champions of the:
ACC, Big10, BigXII, Big East, CUSA, MAC, Mtn West, Pac10, SEC, and WAC.
-b- There will be 6 at-large qualifiers based on BCS formula.

Final BCS Rankings:
AP ranking in [ ]:
(1) at large - Oklahoma [3]
a(2) SEC - LSU [2]
a(3) Pac10 - USC [1]
a(4) BigTen - Michigan [4]
(5) at large - Ohio State [7]
(6) at large - Texas [5]
a(7) ACC - Florida State [9]
(8) at large - Tennessee [6]
a(9) BigEast - Miami,FL [10]
a(10) BigXII - Kansas State [8]
a(11) MAC - Miami,OH [14]
(12) at large - Georgia [11]
(13) at large - Iowa [13]
------------------------------------------
a(17) WAC - Boise State [18]
a(22) MtnWest - Utah [25]
a(27) CUSA - Southern Miss [28]

a = automatic qualifier, conference champions

(2) Seeding shall be based upon final BCS standings. There will be four non-geographical regions. Teams will be seeded either a 1, 2, 3, or 4.

No. 1s:
Oklahoma
LSU
USC
Michigan

No. 2s:
Ohio State
Texas
Florida State
Tennessee

No. 3s:
Miami,Fl
Kansas St
Miami,Oh
Georgia

No. 4s:
Iowa
Boise State
Utah
Southern Miss

(3) A committee will pair teams in an equitable fashion. Stressed will be the elimination of rematches from the regular season, and also to set up attractive matchups. First Round games will be held in the highest seeded teams home stadium. This allows the home fans a chance to see their team in the playoffs and provide incentive to finish as high as possible in the rankings and thus add meaning to regular season games. Region finals, final four, and championship game will be held in the top 7 paying Bowls. Final Four and championship game will be held on a rotating basis between the top 3 paying bowls. Teams not qualifying for the playoffs will be allowed to play in the remaining 16 bowl games.

Last season, there were 62 bowl eligible teams and only 56 bowl spots. With a 16-team playoff, 46 teams will be available for 49 remaining bowl spots. This playoff format would actually create additional bowl spots for some teams like 9-3 Connecticut, 8-4 Marshall, 10-2 Northern Illinois, and 8-4 Toledo.

Pairings:
First Round
Region 1
Game 1: Utah at USC
Game 2: Kansas St at Tennessee

Region 2
Game 3: Southern Miss at LSU
Game 4: Miami,Fl at Texas

Region 3
Game 5: Iowa at Oklahoma
Game 6: Miami,OH at Ohio State

Region 4
Game 7: Boise State at Michigan
Game 8: Georgia at Florida State

I was kicking around a similar idea a few years ago, except that I had a twelve team format, with the ten confrence champions and two at large berths, with the top four seeded teams getting a first round bye like the NFL format. I like your format even better I think.
