Boycott the 2024 Olympics?

Ukraine and up to 40 Western countries including the US are threatening to boycott the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Reason: The IOC is currently allowing Russia and Belarus to participate.

Is this against Olympic "principles" or a reasoned response to the unjustified invasion of sovereign Ukraine by Russia and its protectorate Belarus?

My son swims and I see how hard his teammates have to work to even go d2. Olympic athletes sacrifice way too much for that to be ruined by a bunch of arrogant politicians. It's not the purpose of the games

You sit down with almost anyone from almost anywhere in the world, and if the subject of politics is not interjected into the conversation we are all the same. We all want the same thing. Russians are fine people. The like beer... their women are gorgeous.. they like hockey and they are pretty good engineers. It is the ****ing politicians that ruin it for everyone. If they were all dead in the back of a burning car somewhere in Brooklyn we would all be better off.

And I pull for any team that is playing against professional athletes in the Olympics, I don't care whose flag they are flying. **** 'The NBA Dream Team'.

There were four paid pros on that 1980's hockey team. They were minor leaguers but they weren't amateurs
