The big winner out of 230 brackets was a guy named Jake Liker. In his own words "I'm not sure I'll ever do this well again." I would have to agree, Jake, but congrats on this year!
Following in pretty close behind was just using the Matrix itself, which just aggregates all the other brackets and spits out the teams and the seeds.
Only 2 bracketologists got all 68 teams in the field: The Bracket Project and some random Butler fan. Somehow that Butler fan finished 99th because apparently seeding ain't his thing.
Most of the guys who typically do well in these things did well again. Like 1-3-1, Bracketometry, and Bauertology who are in the top 6 over the past 5 years. They all finished in the top 30 with 1-3-1 finishing #4. Crazy Sports Dude is #1 over the past 5 years. Didn't do as well this year, but still top 50.
What you don't see in the above paragraph is someone from a national publication. Those are the most convenient to pull up every February/March, but they're generally the least accurate. Jerry Palm did the best of that group and still didn't finish in the top 100. Yahoo Sports barely cracked the top 200.
Speaking of bad bracketologists... once again, Lunardi failed to crack the top half, coming in at 121st. Better luck next year, Joe... well probably not. Maybe next year though you'll cite the correct season when pompously declaring why a certain team was left out of the field...
