The Matrix & Lunardi have Michigan, Rutgers, ND Va Tech and Seton Hall as locks and A&M & Colorado out
A&M beat ND MIchigan lost to UCF Minn. Seton Hall & UNC by 20 Rutgers lost to UMass, DePaul and Lafayette MIchigan at 17-14 has the worst record Rutgers at 18-12 isn't much better. Why all the love for the B1G??? Even Indiana at 19 -12 ( just beat Illinois) is questionable. How can a 17 -14 Michigan top a 22-11 A&M with a better record than OSU MSU Rutgers, Michigan and Indiana? Is there an absurd B1G bias???
now TEXAS A&M has answered the question are they bid worthy??? IF A&M fails to get a bid it will be robbery if Michigan, Rutgers, Xavier & ND get in .

It has to do with quality of wins, not just record. Before today, A&M's record was not all that impressive. Their best OOC win (Notre Dame) is now a Q2 win. They basically beat Arkansas and Alabama. They had 2 Q1 wins until today. In comparison, Michigan has 5 Q1 wins. Michigan also only played 10 overall Q3/Q4 games while A&M played 15. Pursuant to KenPom, Michigan has the 4th toughest schedile while A&M has the 63rd. Not all records are created equal.

I don't know the resumes for Xavier or Notre Dame (although I know they beat UK). I think Xavier is out.

Michigan's 17 - 14 season can only rate a top SOS due to the over amped regard for the B1G as a conference.
They played UNC (a team we beat) and lost by 21
They played Arizona ( a team we beat and lost by 18)
The worst B1G team Minnesota beat Michigan at Michigan by 10

A&M lost by 10 AT Wisconsin MIchigan lost by 14 at Wisconsin
18 -11 UCF beat Michigan by 14
arguably the worst losses by A&M were Missouri by 4 and at Vandy by 5 during a rough 9 loss in 10 game Jan 19 - Feb19 skid with losses to KY by 6 at ARK by 3 in OT at LSU by 6 at TENN by 10 and at Auburn by 17 with home losses to SC Mizzou & LSU
I guess it comes down to how you rate the SEC vs the B1G in terms of SOS
You are right - all schedules are not created equal but 17 - 14 in the B1G is not better than 22 -11 in the SEC IMHO and when you compare these records I can't see A&M as a lesser contender than this Michigan team - particularly after the A&M takedown of Auburn to reach the quarterfinals - I would love to see a Tennessee vs A&M game for the title if A&M can get by Ark/or LSU
I cannot see how any team with 14 losses rates an at large NCAA bid

I think A&M is in now with that win. 22-11 with a top 5 win should get them in at 11 or 10 line.

Michigan may be in the tourney but they have ZERO business actually being there.

3 games over 500 and you lose the first game of your conference tourney…..seriously.

If your a bubble team and you lose your first round tournament game that should tell the committee all they need to know……..YOU…..yourself don’t want to be in the tournament and have no business there.

Michigan should not be in the tournament for 2 reasons: They suck and there coaches actions should also keep them out. Have fun in the NIT!

I get using the metrics and all but sometimes you just gotta go with common sense and the eye test, imo.
GBO!!

This! There’s a price for playing a weak OOC schedule and why you have to look at much more than just a team’s w/l record
They played and beat Notre dame also played Wisconsin pretty close their out of conference schedule was pretty decent actually

Michigan is 3 games over 500 and got bounced 1 game of their tournament. No way they should be in! Plus they have coach issues that should not allow them in either!

I agree - it seems like with a borderline team having their coach get suspended for the last 5 games of the season for assaulting another coach after losing a game would be a big black mark in the committee’s eyes.

Then why is Rutgers projected in the field? And they’re not even in the last 4 out! Rutgers ooc sos is 120 per team rankings while A&M is 109. Rutgers also lost to all the decent ooc teams they played, they have 18 wins to 23 for A&M, and the NET ranking is 77 to 41 for A&M. The only thing Rutgers did was have a good Big 10 record at 12-8 and they had one nice run in the conference where they picked up a couple good wins. There’s zeros argument for having Rutgers over A&M.

No it wasn’t. That’s all they played in the Maui Classic. Oregon State ended up being awful, and ND is not a Q1 win on a neutral court.

That said, I think they’ve played their way in and should get in over teams like Rutgers, Xavier, etc.
