Ainge isn't even being whispered for the Heisman. (Not that I really care because it's a joke of an award.) But Quinn is being trumpeted as a top 3 guy.

Look at the numbers.....

Brady Quinn's stats:

Comp Att Yds Comp.% TD Int Rating
148 233 1634 63.5 16 4 141.66

Erik Ainge's stats:

Comp Att Yds Comp.% TD Int Rating
118 171 1657 69.0 14 5 171.57

More yards in more than 60 less attempts, with only 30 less completions and only 2 less TD's and one more INT.

Fact of this matter is... Brady Quinn is extremely overrated. Erik Ainge is a better QB than Quinn, I have no doubt in my mind. People will realize this as the season continues, but Ainge won't get his due until next year.

I was just fixing to start a thread wondering why we are still starting Eric Ainge at QB. Dude, where is Jon Crompton? He is obviously our best QB and we need to figure that out.

P.S. Wonder where all those 'Crompton should start based on the spring game results' crowd are at?

I'm a big fan of Crompton.

Some here think that means that I can't also be a fan of Ainge.

Ainge is our QB, but I do feel confident that Crompton could lead us to victories over most everyone else on our schedule if God-forbid something bad happened to Ainge.

That being said, I wish Crompton could get some mop-up snaps and throws under his belt.

i personally wouldn't care if the Heisman was never mentioned with Tennessee ever again. we don't need the distraction.

Hypeman is a joke. troy Smith will when. It NEVER goes to the right player. NEVER.

Ainge could win SEC player of the year though. That is an award that matters.

I had a huge agruement with a dude who is a Quinn lover and I pretty much shut him up and owned his butt. I gave them stats and all he wanted to talk about was Quinn had 2 more TD's and 1 less INT. Then I mentioned how Brady Quinn also had a fumble...Ainge hasn't had one all year so turnover count is tied at 5. Quinn has also had an INT for a TD, and Ainge hasn't. He tried to argue that the TE should have had the ball, but it was tipped and then picked off and I mentioned how Ainge had a couple INT's that were tipped as well. Also Quinn has been sacked 15 times, Ainge 5 times. therefore...Ainge > Quinn

Part of a hiesman race is built on stats from the previous year. Case in point was Quinn last year. He had better stats than Lienhart(?) and young but never had a chance to win the trophy. He and Anige are very comparable, they both sucked their soph. year and if Ainge continues to put up the numbers his junior year will be as good as Quinns. Next year Ainge will be a front runner for the trophy.

I have checked the past couple of weeks fully expecting EA to be on some Heisman lists, and been horrified to find he isn't. The other QBs on the list are Troy Smith, Brady Quinn, and Chris Leak. Ainge stacks up on numbers to each one of them. I don't understand either. Not that it matters, but he deserves some love.

Meach as well. There are recievers on that list that don't match Meachem. Oh well.

If Quinn does not step up his performance, he will not be invited to NY. Ainge has one more game against a stout defense. If he plays as well against LSU as he did against UGA, and does not do anything real stupid against Ark, SC, Vandy, and UK, then he will be a Heisman finalist.

I agree. Everytime they show stats of the frontrunners and show Quinn's stats, I am thinking how Ainge has him beat and also has played in some hard games to get those numbers.

If Manning couldn't win a Hypeman, I'm not sure any Vol can =(

(Copied from another thread)

I can't believe Ainge isn't getting more hype for the HeiSHAM. He is putting up numbers similar to Manning in '97, and is outplaying everyone else on ESPN's stupid hype list. Just adds to the total absence of credibility the award has now.

They should rename the HeiSHAM the "ESPN's Best BJ Award"

Chrissy can't win a game without Teebow, but he's up for the best individual award???, losing to the gators puts EA behind Leak like it or not.

the heisman or the best ESPN BJ award as was put earlier, (nicely done) is like the madden curse, look at the past winners, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart, just starting their careers, fine, but what about good old jason i get to play for a national championship when i cant win my conference white. what did he do? nothing he got schooled in the national championship. then danny wurefel the year Peyton should have won,,, what did he do in the pros? Jack and S--t. Then look at Peyton, undeniably the best QB in the nfl. to me the heisman goes to the best player that really never plays anyone, i mean i could win a heisman if i played against rice, the missisippi school for the blind, duke, bowlling green state, etc, and thats all i have to say about that

I don't care about the HM trophy, but I don't think there is anyway Leak is going to win it. Tebow is taking too many stats away from him.

And on a side note, am I the only one that thinks Leak absolutely hates Tim Tebow, or am I just imagining things?

Every time I turn on ESPN, someone is talking about ND, Charlie Weis or Teebow. I'll give UM credit for beating UT this year, but I believe Teebow is the most talked about guy in the country, considering he probably averages 20 yds/gm running and 50yds/gm passing. I am guessing at the stats, but wouldn't be surprised if they were lower. With that being said, he will get talked about for the "mediaman", I mean Heisman trophy, next year though he won't win it as a sophomore.

Brady Quinn's stats will improve considering the level of competition they are going to be playing the next several weeks. Although ND got spanked at home by MICH.
