So, over the weekend, I spent some time with a couple that has 2 adopted children from Ethiopia. We were meeting the second one for the first time. These are ridiculously liberal people that have taught their nearly 3 year old son that John McCain is a bad person. They were pleased as punch at the fact that their little boy was repeating "we like obama, john mccain is a bad man". This kid is like a sponge. At one point, he was asking if he could do something and my gf said yes, you can. He replied with, "obama says that". Crazy!

My 3 yr old knows that when you see a T you say "Go Vols". He also knows that Ts should ideally be orange. He is also quick to point out that Alabama does NOT have a good football team.

So brainwashing is not all bad.

Goes both ways. I was in Neyland Sat afternoon. I was sitting next a man and his young 5 year old. This five year old said more than once to more than one person, "I like John McCain, do you?", "Obama hates America, did you know that?" Word for word. Didn't surprise me because his father had been acting like a redneck all afternoon with his uninformed anti-Fulmer comments.

it is just as bad on the right as left. I say we all try to come together and make this work

guess I'm a redneck then. On April 22nd, when my son's 7th grade teacher asked the class what day it was, my boy said "It's Vladimir Lenin's birthday." Which earned him a scowl, of course.

I have also taught him that you should be taxed only on what you spend, not what you earn.

the crap that kids hear at school these days is disgusting. 99% of these teachers are super liberal and actually fairly open about it.

sort of like that teacher in Fayetteville, NC who berated that little girl for supporting McCain because her dad was in the military.

Depends on where you live, along the east and west coast there are a lot of liberals, but middle America, the rest of the country, is very conservative.

They are just disgusted with the Repubilcan party at the moment and crossed over to vote them out, they will be back.

To you its sad. I get so tired of "liberal' being used by the uninfomed as though it is some sort of bad, anti-American label

I can assure you that I am not uninformed on what modern liberalism means.

the teachers can believe in whatever they like, but the problem i have is when they state things as fact which are clearly opinion.

Uninformed certaintude is not an exclusively liberal or conservative trait. It is at the core of being human.

certainly, but liberals are far more prone to be teachers than conservatives. even in religious schools.

i wouldn't want the teacher fluffing up mccain either.

I don't mind teachers telling kids what their stances are on politicians as long as they put it into context for them at an appropriate age.

I am perfectly fine with them telling a student "I support candidate ________ and here are the reasons why. Others may choose to support candidate ________ for these reasons." As long as they don't project their point of view as the correct one and encourage kids to think for themselves and weigh the issues most important to them.

Sadly many teachers are unable to do so and should probably stay out of it altogether.
