Tennessee is also expected to get Brandon Warren, a top defensive end prospect from Maryville, who is expected to announce on a Knoxville TV show on Jan. 30 that he is coming to Tennessee where teammate Dustin Lindsey is also committed. He will officially visit Tennessee on Jan. 27. Warren has been committed to Florida State for some time, but has told friends he plans to sign with Tennessee.

That would be outstanding. If I had to pick between Warren and Mustain, I'd take Warren in a heartbeat. He could add a whole new dimension to our offense.

I was having trouble accessing Brandon's rpofile on Rivals. Seeing as how I have a T2 line there must be some very heavy traffic on that page. There might be something to this story.

I finally got on his profile page and he is now shown as a soft verbal for FL State where he has been a solid verbal for some time now. UT shows up 2nd on his list.

That would be great, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

i'm not going to hold my breath either. besides i don't think warren played for maryville i believe he plays for alcoa, so how truthful can this rumor be.

I too would love for this to be true, but.....

Isn't tricitiessports.com or whatever, pretty much the least reliable source this side of the Mississippi?

They're the same guys who said that Trooper was going to be fired at the end of the year because he and Chavis didn't get along. Give me a break.

If anybody else can verify this, it would be huge. This could be the momentum we needed for this class. But I'm like everyone else...not holding my breath just yet...

is it just me or does it seem like all we can recruit are defensive linemen.

It is just you. UT generally fills their needs. The only exception might be the secondary where they have depended on JUCO prospects to come in ready to play. The tight ends are a great mystery. I think Cut can use a few of them, otherwise they need to be moved to DE.

The only "evidence" the I can find is the above referenced downgrade in his commitment status from solid verbal to soft verbal on Rivals. Scout has an article that says FlSt is white knuckling it because they are worried Warren will come to UT. It is a pay article so I only read the teaser.

For whoever said UT can only recruit defensive linemen, B. Warren will play at tight end if he comes to UT and he is probably the #1 TE prospect in the US. I think the only reason he committed to FlSt so early is they promised to use him as a TE and not try and limit him to defense. I think he played both ways quite a bit at Alcoa.

I have Scout still listing him as verbal to F$U with no interest in UT. But Scout hasnt even updated our commit list since Garrett came aboard. I have the subscription and they are right on the money with one thing and 3 days late with everything else. :banghead:
I'll go with Rivals next year..

He got thrown out of 2 games and missed most of the playoffs for his on field conduct. For his benefit he may need to go to FSU and away from some bad influences that might exist close to home. I would love to have him if I didn't think he was a liability.

I think when the article says "from Maryville" they might just be talking about where he lives. Just because he goes to Alcoa doesn't mean he can't live in Maryville does it? Aren't they close?

true real close together alcoa is just north of maryville. just thought it sort of strange he didn't mention alcoa.

Do you know what the suspensions were for? I don't think either was a big deal. I remeber listening to his coach on the radio talk about it. The first suspension was very questionable in a road game in Kentucky (I think). They tried appealing. The second susupension if I remember correctly was for getting two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. I know one of those penalties was for celebrating. My point is, I don't think either suspension was related to "bad influences". So I don't know how in the world you could call this kid a liability unless you have some information that I don't.

I'm originally from Blount County. He played at Alcoa that would be very close to a lot of local 'riff-raff' that we don't want hanging around the program. I can remember not wanting Leroy Thompson to go to Penn State, but he too needed to get out of town for his own good.

He has shown he doesn't know where to draw the line on the field. Will he show the same decision making off the field?
It is unacceptable to get kicked out of 2 high school games period. That shows he doesn't know where to draw the line, a big head like Marcus Vick maybe.

Any kid in or around Knoxville that doesn't commit to UT should be tar and feathered. That is Benedicy Arnoldish if they don't.

that article is bunk. he might come to ut, but i wouldnt believe anything i read on tcs. as for the suspensions, he hit a guy in the 1st in retaliation of being choked or something to that effect and the 2nd one was for 2 personal fouls, the second was for spinning the ball in the endzone.

Was it the second one? It made local news(friday night high school scores etc) here in the tri-cities, late season/ mid Oct?
I remember seeing a finger point towards a defender, and untouched to the endzone with a flagrant celebration of his own.

The local news i was watching that eve added it was his second ejection of the season and i knew he was on the UT radar. Who in the world is this kids coach? Eject him and let the school board handle it.

To add with what hv posted, tricitiessports is garbage. Their insider... parks cars on game day looking for a $3 rock.

I am not that worried about someone who taunts. If he is a big enough stud to call his shot and back it up then he can do what ever he needs to do to motivate himself IMO. Why is it that this is even an issue but people will rush to defend players who are mixed up with drugs and violence?

Players who are only about themselves normally disrupt team unity. Washington a couple seasons ago is case and point. We are still paying for the lack of team unity that kid started in the football team.

Yep we all know how reliable that source is.. Let's see have they said anything or reported anything that came about?
It would be awesome to have this happen, but don't count on it till some other source reports it.
