Nobody on the team is a winner right now. Why did any of you expect any less? Vandy is on all accounts a better team than Mizzou, miles better than Troy.

Opponents aside, we are losers. These guys have no idea how to win. They've never won before.....literally. So much of athletics is mental and the will to pull through. This team, players and coaches, have never done that. Why should they magically know how to do it vs a superior team.

Those of you infatuated with Bray, quit now. He is a terrible teammate, stubborn, cocky, pretentious, and doesn't have one ounce of blue collar work ethic/determination in him. It is not any coaches fault I don't care if me or you are the one calling the plays. Situations in athletics happen every day in life. You can't curl up and complain and sulk in the corner. If you do you will get fired. He's a golden boy from California that's never had to work for anything.

There are plenty of players that could have more success if the played for an "elite" coaching staff but you know how many of those there are??? Maybe 6 in college football. What happens to the rest of those players on other teams?

If you say you don't blame Bray for quitting on Dooley realize that he has a terrible attitude toward way more involved than just Dooley. There are thousands of fans and more importantly his teammates who are playing with the same record and in the exact same games.

I, for one, would rather have less talented guys on the team with positive attitudes and determination to win no matter what because those guys will win more than all the talent in the world without the winners mentality.

the culture of losing is shameful.

doesn't seem to bother the players - they are used to it - normal

They are not winners and have no idea how to compete and win because their coach is the ultimate loser... If the head football coach is a dang loser then it trickles down to the players... that's how it works in football.

That's because when you have a coaching staff that is in over its head and fosters ZERO confidence then you get what you get. A complete and total cluster***** of a season like this year.

If Dooley ever gets another head coaching job the person(s) responsible for hiring him ought to be shot on site.

I just pray that we get a coach that will get in a player's face and correct problems on the practice field, not in the 2nd quarter of a big game. We need a coach that knows how to win and how to have disciplined players.

Herman lathers = winner. Almost brought tears to my eyes tonight seeing him spitting blood on the turf after all he went thru to play his senior year. Bray and Co. should be ashamed for ruining the likes of Lathers senior year. Lathers is VFL

Out of 300+ million people in the US, we choose THIS moron to lead our program. It still blows my mind. I'd liken us hiring Dooley with finding the Holy Grail or curing cancer...only the opposite...but the chances are about the same. Of all the competent, average coaches out there...we land the biggest loser I think I have ever seen. Unreal.

There is NO WAY he has a HFC job in FBS ever again...I wouldn't be surprised if he never got another head coaching gig, period. There are FCS programs out there that may eventually give him a shot, but I think its much more likely he is done with coaching at this level.

Honestly, do we know Bray and company were to blame for this debacle? You guys are making a lot of assumptions about these kids. Dooley is likely one of the worst coaches in all of major college football and is the worst head coach in UT history. Let's not bash our kids, I'm sure Dooley can do that for us. These kids have been through a lot.

I dont doubt the resolve of guys like Tiny, Marlin, Herman, AJ, to name a few. I think there's a lot of talent on this team that isnt being utlilized properly. It's not like we havent recruited well.

IMO, you can't honestly say Vandy is the superior team. It's more like they have the better head coach. Well, I guess you can say they have the better DC too. Because we all know that SS doesn't have the coaching skills to even be a DC in high school, much less at Tenn. I'm not some Bray fan that always takes his side. We know he has issues. But some of that is on Dooley too. It's his job to keep morale up, get the team to fight for 60 minutes, and to get them to believe in what he is doing as a coach. Every game he fails to do those 3 things. But I do realize some player's attitude will never change, no matter how hard you try. But I don't see that with Bray, or at least not yet. People don't realize what a new HC can do for a player. Especially 'elite' coaches. You never see that stuff on a Nick Saban football team. If Bray was Bama's QB, I guarantee his attitude/body language would be completely different.

BS thread. Attack the coaches for doing their jobs poorly, but leave the players out of it. Are some of our guys immature? Of course, but it's a coach's job to adjust attitude. Perhaps Dooley should have tried benching Bray a long time ago to humble him instead of waiting until it was pointless. Player has a poor attitude, you bench him. That's something a coach does. You emphathize your point until they stop thinking "me" and start thinking "team". It's called team building. Dooley couldn't do it. A proper coach can. So lay off the players. Many of them go out there and leave their blood and their sweat on that field for our enjoyment. They don't deserve the hate and they didn't deserve to be saddled with Dooley as their head coach. They're more victims in this debacle than we are. Some of them might find their dreams come to an end because they played for an inept coach that couldn't develop their talent.

And I highly doubt any of you boneheads have the balls to walk up to Dan McCullers or Tiny and call them a loser. You'd be eating your meals through a straw for several weeks.

The coaches that left after last season are real smart!!!
They saw this coming. Wide Receiver coach, D. Co ordinator, Linebackers coach, they saw this coming.

I wish Dooley had promoted Lance Thompson to D.C., rather than hire Sal... Our D. would have been somewhat better than it is now......

I have to disagree. There are some winners on this team but Bray is not one of them. He hurts the team and when Dooley pulled him i said it was about time. If i were coach Patterson would have been sent to the locker room following his little antics on the TD that was called back.

I just pray Bray and Patterson leave early. I think without these two knuckleheads Hunter will calm down and become a great player again.

That is what is so upsetting.

Almost all of the failures this season are due to mental issues that should be fixed/addressed by the head coach.

  • Mental Toughness
  • Determination
  • Resolve
  • Will to win
  • Belief that you'll win every game

None of these are dependent on talent.

Dooley is the ultimate trainwreck as a head football coach.

I disagree - but only because it might have saved Dooley's job.

I don't want this guy anywhere near the UT football program.

Well said. Dooley should have listened to the seniors last year after the Kentucky game about Rogers and Bray. That would have saved him the headaches this year and brought the team together.

Hiring Dooley was like finding the cure for cancer but deciding 2 motrin would be a better solution.
