It's not that I don't appreciate what Boyd has done in his career. But I prefer qb's that stay in the pocket.

At the time, I probably agreed with Kiffin's decision to take Simms based solely on the assumption that he knew more about the players than me. ....I and others here took a clear loss on that one.

Tonight would just be a nice story if Miles didn't run out of lemon juice at a critical moment. But he played incredibly well tonight. As for comparing him to Bray. He put up plenty of points here just to watch his D piss them away.

Bray is a decent QB but Boyd really has developed into a solid QB. Also, I agree with previous posts. Bray never got the job done when the game was on the line.

Actually I think Kiffin chose Lamaison over Boyd. He could have had both Bray and Boyd

Adorable thread outcome. Switch both players and I guarantee people here would be ****ting on Boyd. Our fanbase is garbage, plain and simple.

I'll pick a guy who played for the vols over one who didn't (even if he did get screwed over) any day. I disagree with many of TB's decisions and off field actions, but he represented UT, for the most part, well on the field under some VERY DIFFICULT situations. I don't think Boyd would have done any better. I also think that Tyler is a better pure passer, albeit with poorer coaching.

This. Bray had all the tools and the moxie early on, we all saw it his freshman year. Even in a losing season he still came close to Peyton's #s. But, a bad defense and poor position coaching led to a poorly developed QB, imo.

Chances are if Boyd had come instead of Bray he would have suffered the same fate.

This may be a bit harsh, but the redneck trash element of the fanbase has been out in full force today. It seems like the backup QB (or somebody else's QB) is always the most popular player on the team, and that's not just a UT thing.

Clemson was 6–7 the year before Boyd became the starting QB, and there defense last year was as bad as TN's. And there coaching was also as bad as TN's. Swinney was a WR coach just like Dooley before he took over half was through the season. I don't think anyone will confuse Dabo Swinney with Nick Saban. :loco:

Even Dabo is 10 times the coach Derek Doofus is. DD would've still sucked this year if Peyton came back.
