Breakdown of next year

I think he could play either position. I've heard that he is actually around 300lbs now. I'm not sure what he was when he left. No, I don't think he is slow.

Mapu is a DT. He did return home to Hawaii to be with his brother that was struck by two vehicles during an anti meth rally. He was set to be on campus this month, I have no info to tell me different unless his time home extended the mission leave and will not return to UT as expected. If that is the case, look for him to move up the chart in a hurry.

The obvious weak spot on defense will be linebacker--not a good thing. Mayo seems to have promise but wasn't he hurt most of last year? So he's not very experienced. Ryan Karl: haven't seen him much, but I know that on two occasions when he was in last year he got burned for long runs. I'm not sold on him. If he's expected to fill Gaither's spot, the falloff could be significant. DL and DBs should be pretty good, but tough to be inexperienced at LB.

On offense, I expect it to be better because Cutcliffe is a much better coach than Sanders and--after last year's debacle--there is only one way to go---up. That's not to say that it will be good, but better. The offense needs playmakers--but all the best athletes (think Wade) are on defense. Ugggh. It's all about the coaching...

It's because of the coaching that I'm not worried about the linebackers. Coach will have his linebackers ready, we will definately be young but they'll be ready. :twocents:

He's not as good as Coker.

It will take Hardesty all year to get back up to speed, but can you explain why Coker was redshirted and Hardesty was second on the depth chart (ahead of Foster) for all practical purposes?

Hardesty is a very dynamic player. If he can stay healthy next season just about everyone on this board will be singing his praises. A name that is suprising in its absence from the rb talk is Dustin Lindsey. He will be a great addition to the rb corp and will see significant playing time by seasons end.

You are entitled to your opinion. Your opinion is that Coker is better than Hardesty. It was the opinion of EVERY coach on the UTK staff that Hardesty was not just better, but much better. Not even close in their opinions.

Everything will ultimately be decided once he gets on the practice field. So, there is really no way to say for sure yet what position he will end up at. But, I have read on multiple publications and articles that Lindsey will probably end up at LB at UTK.
