Bredesen may reject aid

Looks like this portion of the bill is a real problem for many states. I saw Pawlenty on a Sunday morning show last week and they are taking it because their state handles the issue differently and won't have to raise business taxes to comply.

I'd be glad if he doesn't take it. I'm already being taxed enough. Just got the bad news from my CPA last night. They tried to clean me out this year. If they raise taxes on me much more, i might as well go back to work for someone else. Providing there is a job available. I imagine a lot of the small businesses around me are feeling the crunch too. They make it hard to make a decent living. I have to raise my prices which pisses off customers and makes them look around. Not good for business at all.

considering New Orleans isn't a state, i'm not going to take your word on it that Louisiana's gov. agreed w/ it before hand.

never said he agreed with the package or anything...but i think i saw somewhere that he either already took or agreed to take like 3.7 out of the 3.8 billion dollars of aid....i'd have to look it up again.

I'm not sure, it may be true. The problem with this bill from the beginning was that it was pushed through so quickly nobody had enough time to study what was in this bill or the strings and catches attached. The problem for many states in regard to the unemployment money was that after a period of time it would force many states to come up with that money for increased benefits themselves with no way to pay for it other than increasing taxes or implementing new state taxes.

A quick fix? Obama said we should stay away from those, although he wrote this one into law. All designed to get everyone feeling good again just long enough to get him a second term. Only problem is some are smart enough to recognize it and reject it.

The bill you mention will be Obama's downfall.
