Heupel's upbeat and articulate pressers are refreshing. Yep Freak - a lot like Pruitt . Negativity and throwing blame out there for the guys out on the field trying to give the old fat man a W. Nice way of saying his players suck. Some things are better left unsaid. I am sure his team knows they are not good. Heck Charlie Weis called his Kansas team a pile of crap years ago.

While I don't condone his actions, I think I can understand them to a point. He's in his first year at the school, has little to no investment in the players currently on the roster and is basically advertising Illinois as a potential option to any player on another school's depth chart as somewhere they can come in and earn a spot right away. In today's coaching environment, the expectations have never been higher, so the faster he can turn his roster over the better.

Probably a better way to do it than a public news conference though. Can't see his team 'buying in' to anything he'd try.

The "taken out of context" excuse is so overused that people think they can just claim that and everyone is going to be all "OH...OK!".
