While I don't condone his actions, I think I can understand them to a point. He's in his first year at the school, has little to no investment in the players currently on the roster and is basically advertising Illinois as a potential option to any player on another school's depth chart as somewhere they can come in and earn a spot right away. In today's coaching environment, the expectations have never been higher, so the faster he can turn his roster over the better.
Probably a better way to do it than a public news conference though. Can't see his team 'buying in' to anything he'd try.
