Damn shame as a Brett Favre fan, I wanted to see his streak get to 300, that was the only thing he had going for this year. What a career and one of my all time favorite QBs. :cray:

Couldn't the streak have continued if he would have started the game, hand it off to Peterson the first play, and then come out? I'm not sure how that works but obviously not like that.

He could have but that would be cheap.

......he's not cheap.

I wasn't thinking of that being cheap, just if that would have counted or not. But if he would have done that, it would have been cheap.

So can Goodell quit stalling and finally announce if Favre is going to be suspended for his junk shot?

It would have counted. Some of the players reportedly asked him to do this. but, he did the honorable thing and stepped aside.

Being a NASCAR fan, I guess my thinking of a player starting a game was similar to its rule of a driver starting a race. If a driver takes the green flag (or the equivalent in football being the first snap on offense), he officially starts the race. Should he have to leave the car due to a prior injury and have to be replaced with another driver, he still gets credit for starting the race. I was wondering if the same thing applied to football. Thanks for clarifying. And I gained some lost respect for Favre for this. I wasn't thinking of it being a cheap move, but in a way, it would have been.

now a 3 way tie for most consecutive games played.

Peyton Manning
Ronde Barber
London Fletcher

All with 208 consecutive games played.

Peyton will be at 208 straight games at the end of the season, he'll need to play 89 more regular season games to match Favre at 297. I don't think he'll play long enough to break it though.

Yall are right, sorry I misread

Redskins Insider - With Favre streak over, London Fletcher tied for most consecutive games played

Well, weeks later, Favre did sit out a game, missing Monday's 21-3 loss to the New York Giants because of a shoulder problem, ending his NFL-record streak of consecutive starts at 297. And with Favre out of the lineup for the first time since 1992, Fletcher is now tied for the longest streak with 205 straight games played.

He shares the new top mark with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber. Fletcher also has made 158 consecutive starts.
