I found these numbers and made be look forward to next year and hope the qb is better. If so we will be tough.

North- 13.05 yds. per catch
Croom-14.94
Johnson-14.53
Smith-15.16
Pig-7.8
Downs-7.6

In the final BCS results we were # 49 with a Grade of B-

Offense was # 69 with grade of C+
Defense was # 48 with grade of B

Actually a little better than I was expecting to find us

and by the way Florida # 67 :good!:

I really, really hope that Croom gets moved to Tight End during spring practice. Downs is good but he is more of a blocker & Croom is more athletic.

Tough to say. They're two completely different types of receivers, who I believe both have tremendous upside.

I or 1 haven't seen anything impressive from Croom, other than his height. But Johnson had some great catches this year and has some decent speed.

Yea Johnson impressed me a lot of times this season. For a slot receiver that didnt see too much PT he had some nice plays. As far as Croom goes, he had his moments this past season. He was poised for a breakout game against UK before he got hurt.

Croom is nowhere near physical enough to play TE and Downs can't block. Helm and Wolff can't get here quick enough.

Numbers are surprising, just wish we had a few more of those 13-15yd catches!

Like maybe ONE MORE against GA, and ONE MORE against Vandy! :cray:

These numbers are promising even with our below average QB play. Makes me look forward to what will happen when one of our QBs steps up and is THE guy, whoever that may be.

Croom is the most physical blocker of our receivers. I don't think he should be a TE.

When they become more consistent, this will be a solid group.

That's the problem. Can they find that consistency before it's time to move on? It seems like that has been a problem for several seasons now. We would have one or two stand out players and the rest be mediocre to inferior and by the time the rest of the team developed to the level of those choice few standouts, they were either graduating or declaring early for the draft. If CBJ can keep this 2014 recruiting class committed, it may solve this problem by giving a full team time to develop as a team and that in turn will give future teams something to build on. For instance, last year we had 3 really good players (Hunter, CP, and Bray) but our defense was terrible. This year, we lost those star playmakers, but our defense had come around. Next year, we lose Neal, our somewhat overrated, but better than average o-line and probably AJ Johnson and we'll have somebody else emerge as a playmaker without a supporting cast. Maybe, just maybe if some of these incoming freshmen can step up, this vicious cycle will end.

Croom had a 3-and-goal TD catch against Oregon, a long catch in the 4th quarter against Florida, a 3rd-and-long catch in the 4th quarter against South Alabama, a 3rd-and-long catch in the 4th quarter against Georgia that helped set up the tying TD, a 3rd-down catch in OT against Georgia, a 3rd-down catch against South Carolina, a 3rd-down catch and a 4th-down catch against Alabama, a 3rd-and-long catch against Missouri, and a long TD catch against Kentucky on a pass that was underthrown.

That's an impressive number of clutch catches for an RS freshman.

Croom's best game was his last one. He had a couple ugly drops at different times in the season but it seemed like something finally clicked and then he got hurt.

Just hope he can pick up where he left off.

Hope like hell Smith doesn't play next year. WR corps improves immediately if he doesn't.....addition by subtraction

Was Smith injured at some point? It seemed like he started the season as a fairly clutch guy and then suddenly couldn't catch a cold. Feel like it started with a 30yrd drop on a pretty slant pass from Dobbs on a 3rd and long in the UF game and went downhill from there.

Curious if he got banged up.
