If anybody's old enough to remember, the football pre-season started with the All Star Game up until the late sixties. The NFL champs played a team of the the top college seniors. But for some reason, it just died all of a sudden. The All Stars didn't fare too well back then against the pros but I'd love to see how some of these monsters coming out of college (like Reggie Bush) would do in a game like this today. I know a lot of college guys leave early now but if they declare for the draft, let them play in this game.

That would probably be one of the coolest games. But a butt whoopin nonetheless.

Not a chance for the college team, no unity. Maybe if the NC winner played an NFL team, thaat might give them a run.

Novel idea! I'd like to see that, too.

Even then... After the 2004 season I said that USC could have given the 49'ers a game, but that kind of college team the same year as such an awful NFL team is a rare occurance, maybe once a decade.

I think even the worst pro teams would beat college teams by 20 points.

Hmmm...I'm not so sure that Houston could've beaten USC this year.

It would be a good show to see how players like Reggie Bush or Vince Young will be able to compete against the pros.

Even though I think on some given years a brilliant college team could give the worst professional team a run for their money (I think the USC Trojans could have beaten the San Francisco 49'ers in 2004), it would absolutely be degrading to make an NFL team play a college team as the result of a bad record.

I know it'll never happen but I still can't help but wonder. I really think the Nebraska NC team that destroyed Florida in the Fiesta Bowl could have competed with some of the lower level NFL teams of that year. A lot of them went on to the NFL and some are still playing. That IMO was the best college team ever.
