When you have to put your shoe collection 200+ on ebay, your in a tight spot.

And they were talking about all the athletes putting championship rings on Ebay, im not in that type of situation so I cant say too much, but I couldn't do that

I caught the end of the show. Did anyone else see the guy say something about how colleges should prepare these guys for having that kind of money?

I didn't see it but the percentage of guys in the league going broke is pretty high. Not surprised at all.

I don't know what I would have done with all that money at 19-23...hopefully I would have people around I could trust. I felt the worse for Bernie Kosar...got ripped off by his dad

No sympathy for them...they cared about one thing. They didn't take the time ti educate themselves.

I know before I graduated college they offered a life after college course.

I feel like these guys should know that they are going to need some kind of money management education and I am sure there are course offered in college that would touch on that.

Very good documentary.

Professional football players are essentially lottery winners struggling with making 3-5 years of earnings last a lifetime.

Andre Rison at the end of the documentary is just sad. He talks about being a success and is too stupid to realize that two bankruptcies is the opposite of success. I was glad to see though that he has gone back to Michigan St. To get his degre.

Considering they were in college, it's their fault if they can't fall back on that. Some of them take really stupid classes and work towards a worthless degree. Even if they're planning on leaving early for the NFL, they can still get at least 3 years in studying towards a degree that will help them later and when football is over, go back and finish. A lot of them just don't care.

That's a backup quarterback that hasn't even showcased his ability to go pro. That guy has nothing and still doesn't even care about a degree to fall back on. I don't feel bad for 99% of these guys. As someone else mentioned, some of them do get taken by family members, friends, agents or whatever and that's messed up. But lots of them just throw there money around and don't care.

I don't know if it's true and I doubt it is. I remember hearing a story that Shaq put every single paycheck in the bank he earned from his basketball contracts and only spent his endorsement money. Granted, he's a superstar and would net a lot of endorsement money but nowhere near a lot of athletes salaries. If he got by on that and had that kind of willpower, there is something wrong with these other guys. Antoine Walker after his 3rd or 4th season was given a 6 year, 71 million dollar contract. He's already broke and he was still playing in 2008. He was probably on the verge of being broke before the end of his contract. That's just pathetic.
