was asked about tyler smith and the nba.

CBP said tyler has improved every year he's been at UT and CBP thinks he's an NBA point guard cuz he can guard quicker guys and makes everyone around him better.

:eek:k:

 No he doesnt have the handling skills and if he can guard quicker guys put him one on one on John Wall and that could be a measuring stick

i thought CBP comments were completely absurd. i'm bet my house that there isn't one NBA GM planning on drafting Tyler to play the point. my guess is that they're waiting for him to hit some outside shots just to convince them he can play the 3 in the nba.

Agree. I thought he worked on his outside shot during the off season yet defenders are still playing off and he hasn't taken the open shots...I don't understand. I just wonder if Bruce watches the NBA...does he really think he can guard a Chris Paul, Steve Nash, or a Rondo? He's crazy. Those guys would make him look like his feet were set in concrete.

Sure Tyler can hold his own against smaller quicker guards from time to time, but to say say that he could do this consistently against NBA guards is incredible.

All of the sudden I understand why Tennessee has problems recruiting good point guards.

Surely this was misunderstood.

I posted this about a week ago. He said the same thing after a game as well. No way he could do it though.

haha yes. It's stuck in his head. I was surprised to hear it then but now I'm just shocked that he repeated it.

I am as big a fan of Tyler as you are likely to find, but I bet even he couldn't wrap his brain around that.

Whoa, he said that dumb crap twice?

Yes he did.

Makes it painfully obvious why we have had issues recruiting a point guard.

Which having guys like Melvin Goins and Bobby Maze is pretty damning evidence in itself.

Maybe Bruce is looking to replicate our success from a few years ago and move Tyler to PG for our annual 1-2 game run in the NCAA.

I'm hoping this is just a little marketing campaign for Tyler. Otherwise, we have serious problems.

If Bruce truly thought that, then Tyler would be playing point.
