Sounds like a different man now. The game last night did wonders for this team in a number of ways. Seems as though the tight schedule during the holidays and games being so close to each other without much time to work on team chemistry without much practice time played a huge part in the meltdown last month. I believe we will see more of the team that won in New York and Pittsburgh the rest of the season than the team we saw the last couple of weeks in December. Whether some people want to believe it or not, our coach has a lot of fight in him and will not let this team waste the opportunity that they have in front of them. I'm confident some special things will happen the rest of the season.

Hope your right. I can't take watching another game like the CofC game. This team could be pretty good if they could find some consistency.

We'll drop a few sec games for whatever reasons, but i'm not concerned one bit about this team come march.

We've had more problems than team chemistry.

I was listening to 104.5 on the radio in Nashville today. Former Vandy & USC coach, Eddie Fogler, was on the show. He said. " On a scale of 1 to 10, I believe that the NCAA will punish U.T. on a 9 1/2. The NCAA doesn't want to send a message to other coaches that they can lie to the NCAA and not be really punished. I know that the NCAA can't actually fire Pearl, but they will put so much pressure on U.T. by no post-season play, t.v., scholarship reductions and suspending Pearl for a year, that U.T. will
likely fire him. If U.T. were to fire Pearl now, then they would owe him some money, but if they wait for the decision of the NCAA, then they can fire Pearl for "Just cause" and not owe him anything."
I tend to believe in what Fogler thinks. Our post-season play this year will be Pearl's last as our coach and it will be our last post-season run for about 7 or 8 years. We will need to get past the sancations first. Once those are over, we can hire a good coach. Then he can start to rebuild us.
No good coach will come to U.T. while we are on probation.
Let's enjoy this season because it will be 7 or 8 years before we get to the dance again.

Don't listen to everything you hear on Nashville radio. Just because people believe the NCAA is going to make an example out of Pearl and UT doesn't mean that they're actually going to. Look at the facts and the situation. Yes Pearl lied. But about what? A secondary violation? So not being up front about the secondary violation brings more punishment than the actual violation itself? What are they going to punish him for? The lie? The violation? Both? Who can answer that? The answer is NO ONE. Pure evil speculation. And speculation will do more damage to our recruiting and focus on the court than anything.

imo, Fogler is a HUGE Vandy homer, who's on Nashville radio, and tends to cater towards the 'Vanderbilt bitterness' against UT .... he'd like to see Tennessee go down

I notice that everyone who has been saying UT and Pearl will get hammered by NCAA are folks who either still have or have shown hatred towards UT or Pearl at one time or another.

I'd be interested to see what the infamous photo looks like. If it is a photo of Pearl. Posing with recruits. At his house. Fire him.

Gee - another former Vandy coach being extemely critical of a Vol Coach or program - what a shock and surprise. On a scale of 1 to 10 Eddie gets a 1/2 on a success scale and he's also short and boring to boot.

If by people you mean you, then I'm guessing you still believe.

No, there are people in Knoxville radio who have predicted that who can hardly be described as Pearl haters.

Yes that includes me. During the slump, I got the feeling from Bruce's press conference and the players that they were mailing it in due to some sort of distraction. That's why I said Bruce sounds like such a different man now.

I wouldn't go that far. There is no certainty about what will happen, but that type of harsh punishment is definitely possible. I just wish a decision would come soon. It is, at the very least, a tool being used against UT in recruiting right now. I just hope that recruiting isn't the least of our worries about the program in a few months.

No matter what anyone here or on the radio says, they do not know what the NCAA's decision will be. Hamiliton said the letter should get here in Feb., so until then all of the assuming is stupid.
