Pearl said Florida is the team that will be picked to win the SEC, even with Kentucky landing another monster recruiting class.

"Billy Donovan has had several years of really, really good recruiting,'' Pearl said. "They will be by far the most talented team in the SEC.''

Interesting...I do see UGA improving quite a bit, but I don't really see a huge drop off for Kentucky...I think we'll end up in the top 3 again

So he is picking South Carolina to finish last in the East? I thought they were going to be good this year.

I like Pearl, so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this was an interview with MHF. Both of those statements are, well.... I can't find the word at the moment.

I almost spit out what I was drinking when I read that too, especially Florida having "by far" the most talented squad. They have a very average front court and just because their three front court players are all seniors doesn't make them talented. I like Boynton though, he'll be a stud next year. They have some good freshmen coming in, but so do UK and UT so I don't quite see where he gets "by far" the most talented team.

The thing with Kentucky is if they can play together. Patterson kept that group playing together. Cal is not a good bench coach. Pearl is alot better coach.

I'm saying that Donovans recruiting has hardly been what Pearl claims it to be, with multiple transfers and quite a few busts. As for the talent, the ragamuffin squad of glorified intramural 3 point shooters masquerading as a college basketball team hardly constitutes the most talent in the SEC just because they return 5 mediocre starters.

Florida might win the conference, who knows.

Its Bruce taking a jab at Cal and UK by picking Florida, and placing the expections upon Florida who now has to live up them, which hardly ever happens outside of the two year abomination to sports when the won their titles. Great move by Pearl, IMO.

This was baffling when I read it. I dont see any way that UF surpasses UT and UK.

They have no answer at all for guys like Terrence Jones and Tobias Harris in the frontcourt.

No way is Macklin as good as Kanter(Kanter's projected to be the number 2 pick in next year's draft.)

No way UF can compete against Tennessee's length and athleticism on the perimiter.

And UK will be a much more balanced team and a much better shooting team than they we were this year.

Not to mention UT seems to have had UF's number as of late. I wouldnt be surprised if Tennessee had won 7 of the last 10 meetings with Florida.

That's the best. I am stationed about 45 mins outside of Columbia, SC, and I am going to put that on a t-shirt along with the words,

Remember, MHF is picking them to be much improved this year. No way they could be last in the East. Pearl obviously doesn't know what he is talking about.:)

Pearl mentioned Florida as the favorites in the SEC at the Big Orange Caravan in West Palm Beach last week as well. He said it tongue in cheek to a chorus of boos from the Vol faithful, after which he smiled and added "it'll make it that much better when we beat them AGAIN"

He didn't really pick them to win the East he just said they were one of the talented teams in the east.

Actually he said Fl is the team that will be picked as the favorite. He didn't really say that it is his favorite. Atleast that is how I took it!!

You have many of those great quotes. South Carolina will be a monster team next year despite most picking them last in the East. They have much better talent now that that little guard they had last year that was a ball hog and scored all their points is gone.
