This was prior to Dooley and Kiffin era.A professor that taught at UT said Pat Summitt and Bruce were on the up and up when academics involved. Bruce would require signed notes from professors every week on progress or something to that effect. Former professor also said whenever a football player was not passing or making the grade, some one calls professor, when that doesn't work, someone higher calls, when that doesn't work someone even higher calls. Also when a student appeals a semester grade 2% of normal student body overturned, 92% of football players grades were changed, He said this goes on everywhere at different schools. He got tired of it and now teaches at a school whereby sports is not king.

Congrats on breaking this big news!

Exactly. I think everyone was interested in what some former professor who "left" UT thinks about the man who is no longer the basketball coach. Ground breaking stuff.

Ramar Smith's transcript was a thing of academic integrity and honesty if I have ever heard of such a thing.

You would have been very interested had he said something negative, and everyone who follows your posts knows it. Why? Because you're biased.

Grades or stupid anyway

I would agree grades are subjective. However, they do serve a purpose. First in most cases to get students to attend classes, second to force students to study and learn how to learn and third to reinforce the achievements of students who make an effort to learn the material presented in each course:. I make it a point not to criticize spelling or grammer on this board.

I do believe Bruce Pearl received an unfair punishment for what he did. I think two years show cause would have been sufficient. Remember the initial incident would have only been a minor violation if he had not lied. Again the loss of job, loss of salary at UT and the three year show cause penalty imposed on him will cost him approximately 7 million dollars. I personal fell it was too severe. You also have to consider the damage to his reputation and how this will limit his employment and earning potential for the remainder of his career. It often astonishes me how one small mistake like this can destroy a person life but we cannot get a politicians to tell us the truth and we accept every day. He has loved coaching at Tennessee and I have to respect him for the way he has conducted himself after his unfortunate mistake. I for one will miss him on the court. However, Bruce may have a future in politics.

Albert Einstein was brilliant. He was also dyslexic. Intelligence has nothing to do will the ability to write. You must not have attended the class where this was explained. Seems to me the pot is calling the kettle black. I will match my IQ with yours when ever you like.

Unfortunately, the Pearl era is over, but the Linda Bensel-Meyers ghost lives through Jimmy Cheek and Susan Martin.

Mike Hamilton did give concessions to them. Maybe the new AD and Dooley can get them back. Then we can be on a level playing field with Bama etc. Sooner or later the powers that be will learn how important sports is to Tennessee.

I was just joking, but I made a 770 on the GMAT.

I think it is funny when he claims he is making objective observations. Hey, it's ok to dislike Pearl personally. Just don't act like there is any way you could ever be obective when discussing his coaching abilities.
