Tony Franklin eviscerates Auburn, Bryan Harsin: ‘You hired a weak man with no backbone’

“Four games in and you crack, and you fire your receivers coach?” he (former OC Tony Franklin) asked. “The best coached group on the field for offense was your receivers. You’re basically firing your receivers coach because your offensive line sucks. Your offensive line is bad."

"Did you fire the offensive line coach? He’s an Alabama guy (Will Friend). That would make all the Auburn people happy. Fire the Alabama offensive line coach. He started four years at Alabama, and you hired him as your offensive line coach?”

“The offensive line is worse than bad. They don’t look like they know what they are doing. ... They can’t pass pro(tect). The quarterback already has the yips. I don’t think the quarterbacks are well coached either. The running backs don’t make plays in space against a good team.”

Anyone know why Harsin didn't bring his Boise OC over with him initially, when he first got the job? That's who he hired to replace Williams.

How does Will Friend continue to land jobs?
Friend probably got the Auburn job because Auburn boosters made Harsin hire guys with SEC experience and connections. It is interesting to me that Harsin didn't bring over anybody from his Boise St staff, although he just hired back his Boise OC to replace the WR coach he just fired. Friend was at UT because he's close personal friends with Pruitt; I even think he might have been in his wedding.

I know UT was a disaster under Pruitt but our OLINE got worse every year with Friend as OL coach.

Wonder if they miss ole Gus yet down there??
It's amazing how quickly narratives shift. I know it was against creampuffs, but their offense generally and Bo Nix in particular did look improved in their first 2 games (Bo Nix wasn't making reads and their offense was putting up 60 against creampuffs when Gus was there) and I thought they played well against Penn St in a really tough environment and could have won that game.

However, after a bad 4th down playcall there at the end and almost losing to Georgia St, now all of a sudden there are doubts.

Perception says there's a huge difference in getting Coastaled or Appied, and getting Panthered.

Yuuuge difference. If they lost that game, I bet a bunch of their fans would have already been out on Harsin and it would take something massive, like a victory over Georgia or Alabama, to get them back. Even though that was an ugly performance he dodged a bullet there. They looked exactly like Pruitt did against Georgia St, except for the 98-yard drive to win at the end.

Yeah it's one thing to struggle in an early game to a team like that. It's another to give up a 98 yard drive.

Don't let @de1conley read this review of the great Bryan Harsin.

Tennessee fans tried to tell you Auburn. That’s all I’ll say….

He’s the smartest man in the business. Paid a ton of money for being absolutely awful.

Yes, there are rumblings about Bryan. There are rumblings from Bryan. There is nastiness in the schools. The remnants of Malzhan linger. Boise calls him home.

I remember quite a few on here talking about how good the Friend hire was. How he did such a good job at CSU. 🙄🙄🙄

SEC. It just means more. Sometimes the grass on the other side really isn't greener. Or blue-er...

Welcome to the big leagues, Coach Harsin. Old rule: Don't f*** with the eagles before you learn how to fly.

Iron Bowl oughta be fun to watch. From the visitor's side.

Not really. Georgia St dominated Tennessee. Half the team wasn’t interested in being in that game.
