1. Survive and advance, that’s the motto this time of year right? Not sure just how well we survived, might not know until we see Chandler walk out on the court tomorrow, but our guys found a way to win in convincing fashion in large part without their star PG. Other guys stepped up obviously and the 2nd half defense was a thing of beauty, but I think most of us are leaving tonight asking about Chandler’s prognosis, ankle sprains linger and for a guy whose quickness is a major weapon that’s a concern.

2. JOJO James stepped up big time…he got saddled with 2 fouls in the first half (wish Barnes would trust upper classmen a bit, he finished with 2), but he was huge in the 2nd half. He was aggressive offensively and was hitting his shots, when he plays like that this team is a legitimate contender, no doubt about it imo. You know what he will give you defensively but offensively he’s been playing with a different level of aggression and that needs to continue.

3. The 2nd half defense was Tennessee basketball, clearly Barnes wasn’t happy going into the half and Tennessee made some adjustments…after shooting 57% the first half they made just 24% of their shots the 2nd half, Tennessee locked in and really executed their scout very well. I liked the move to double Tolu in the post quick and make him pick up his dribble, MSST isn’t a good 3pt shooting team and you take their chances there, it worked out well.

4. We’ve talked about Tennessee’s horrible 2pt% recently, they were excellent tonight, 21/39 for 54% which would rank Top 50 nationally, and that’s against a team that has a legitimate front court. BHH was really good finishing good passes, Fulky his some shots, Zeigler was good enough around the rim, Plav as well, it was exactly what we need from our posts…don’t try to do too much, finish good passes from our guards and don’t turn it over.

5. Big picture…that win should lock this team into a 3 seed at worst, plenty of losses around us and having watched a lot of these conference tourney games we had a really good showing, not sure what tomorrow holds but we appear to have came to Tampa ready to play and still playing really good ball. Chandler’s ankle is going to be a major question mark, this team needs him healthy and at 100%, ankles can be tricky and that really scares me, but hopefully it’s minor…this team really seems to be playing its best ball and it would be a shame for him to not be at 100%.

2 was definitely the key tonight and along with KC’s health are the keys for us to advance tomorrow. KC was playing great before he initially turned his ankle. I was especially impressed with his defense on Molinar. Hopefully KC is a fast healer!

We won, but at what cost? Very concerned about Chandler’s health moving forward.
He came back in and played the last couple of minutes right? Gotta think he wouldn’t have done that when we have already won the game unless he thinks he’s good to go. I know tomorrow might be a different story though since it was an ankle and those hurt more the next day

I guess we’ll see. It’s just hard not be nervous. Shades of John Fulkerson get elbowed in the face and missing the Big Dance. We just cannot afford to lose Chandler. Health is huge this time of year, and typically the healthiest teams win.

Yeah I get that, I would be more worried if he never came back in the game. But like your saying, he could not be 100% tomorrow which worries me

Yeah, until I see him on crutches, I'm not that concerned.

Only got to see the 2nd half, but was real happy about how few turnovers we had. A ton of assists, shot the ball well, front court contributes and defended well. Just a solid mature outing and no one looked nervous in a tournament setting. Hopefully Chandler can handle the soreness. Whatever JJJ has bottled up these last dozen games, I hope he continues.

I'd rest Chandler tomorrow. After that "review" in the UK/VU game, I'm convinced there's no way the refs allow anyone but UK to win this tournament. Rest him and get ready for the dance.

I'm conflicted about it, but that does make a lot of sense. Give him a week to heal up, and he would probably be fine. Play him another game tomorrow, and get another injury, and he might be effectively done (being productive) for the season.

No need to sell our soul for a game when our seeding would barely change. I would rather have a healthy Chandler and a 3 seed vs not having him and a 2 seed

Yeah it really felt like KC was primed to have a monster game. State didn’t have the quickness to guard him and KC was really in rhythm with his jump shots. Honestly, he was still really really good tonight even with the ankle injury. And he locked up Molinar in Starkville and he was on his way to doing it tonight too.

It’s essentially going to be a Kentucky home game, and that is an unmistakable advantage. Chandler took 3 shots to the ankle and has to be feeling pain, soreness, etc. If he’s not 100% healthy, I would sit him out and make sure he is good to go next week. I want to beat Kentucky, but I want us to do what gives this team their best chance next week.

Agree. We should still be a 3 seed with a loss. Hopefully, he's 100% today or close to it, if not, then I would sit him

With all the upsets ahead of us, I can't see a way they could remove us from the 3 line. Having said that, the powers that be continue with the fraud that is video review and continue to trot biased, piss poor refs like Pat Adams out there in critical games so who knows what they'll do with the agenda they appear to have. Yeah, I'm going tin hat in some eyes, but this whole thing is full of money, interests, gambling so nothing surprises me anymore. I'll be very curious to see who gets assigned to officiate our game today. Is Cal's brother in law an official? Cousin maybe? If they can't find anyone, I'm sure guys like Adams will be rested and ready for duty again. Watch it happen.

Agreed...Alexander was have another health factor which coincided with an early tourney exit

This! Especially his defense on Molinar as he had the quickness to stay in front of Molinar and keep him from dribble driving into the paint. We really need a healthy KC to go far in the NCAA’s
