Noob Q here. Sorry. I don't follow racing too much. I saw a tweet about Bubba Wallace and UT.

I was wondering what his connection was. Wikipedia says he's from Alabama, went to school in North(?) Carolina. Just says his mom went to Tennessee. I just wondered if there was something more.

I'm only looking for a sentence or two. Anything helps 😜 Thanks.

(Sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseum.)

Mom ran track at UT. He visited during a football practice leading into the Battle at Bristol. Has worn a UT mask a few times last season before races.

I think it is great to have Jordan in NASCAR. Rising waters raise all the ships. However, they have beat this Jordan/Bubba deal to death. Once is good. Twice, I get it. By the 25th time, I’m changing the channel. Pit bull is a big deal too. They got very little screen time comparatively.

I don’t think Bubba is honestly going to live up to the hype, and quite honestly, I see him folding to the pressure. I mean he did throw a fit a quit an iRacing event on national television.

Hes supposedly a big TN fan. But hes an average driver who was just handed top equipment. He's ok at superspeedways and K wouldn't be surprised if he pulls of a win if he sticks around long enough, but he isn't much at other tracks. I dont see him doing well at all but he found a way to stay in Nascar and keep the money coming.

There’s one reason he’s in NASCAR, and it‘s not his ability to drive.

If McDowell can get a win, anyone can

Oh im aware, if he didnt start that BS last year, he was going to be out of a Cup ride.

All that bubba wallace BS last year is why I no longer follow nascar.

I had planned to never have anything to do with nascar ever again. I gave up all other nascar pick sites and debated over and over whether to participate in this year's Volnation pick'em but decided to play only Volnation for one simple reason.....I am going to pick the same drivers every week except for restrictor plate tracks just to see where I finish. I only hope I can remember to post my picks!

Yeah, the duel race he was in was pretty bad, every 2 minutes they wouldnt stop sucking him off. The 500 was pretty bad too. I want to watch but not if theyre just going to suck Bubba off every week. Nascar is making a mistake doing that anyways, the short term ratings pop wont stay around, and theyll run off a good amount of their die hards. I know my dad whos watched since he was 10 or so said he wasnt watching anymore after the 500 because of how bad it was.

They’re forcing Bubba on the sport like they did Danica. Sponsorship magnet that will hang around longer than others of similar talent. And I don’t care if he likes UT or is a huge fan. He’s a pompous ***hole. I’ll never forget when he threw water in Bowman’s face after a race and stormed off like a pansy, while he was receiving treatment for dehydration.

In about 3-5 years, Hailee Deegan may be the best chance for NASCAR to have a mainstay. She has the talent and the personality. She doesn’t need to be rushed through the lower level series’.

Im the same with Bubba, before I couldnt care less about him he was another guy in the field, but now I hope he wrecks out of every race. I dont want him to get hurt just not finish.
I agree with Deegan she also has a name people recognize. Her biggest issue might be her mouth though, she got in trouble a few weeks ago for dropping the r word on a twitch stream.

Didn’t Wallace play the race card saying there was a noose hanging on his garage stall door and it was determined in a few days it was a door rope that was in all the stalls. Did Wallace ever acknowledge his claims were in error?

It was a crew member who saw it, I dont think its been confirmed if he actually saw it or not. But no Wallace doubled down for days that it was a noose and a racist act. Thats why I hate him now. I just looked up, Bubbas comments and he said, "it wasnt a garage door pull, it was a noose, it may not be aimed at me(Bubba), but its a noose."

I only can imagine all the ass-kissing wallace received.....thank goodness I didn't watch.

I have been a nascar fan since the early-80's. Held spring and fall Bristol tickets from late-80's till this year. I supported nascar through all the changes even when nascar took the auto manufacturers out of car design and enforced these new car-of-tommorow boxes which was my biggest issue.....until wallace.

I have a customer (who is a good friend) of over 30 years, and he shared some information about the wallace situation handed directly down from nascar as his brother-in-law is a nascar employee. Nascar has steadily declined, for various reasons, so nascar (France family) is basically putting all the chips on wallace to revive nascar. I expect wallace to "win" multiple times this year and going forward. Get use to wallace being the poster boy for nascar and being shoved down your throat. At this point, it would not shock me if nascar mandated kneeling!!
