To be fair, there is currently no evidence that we can play football without a bubble. It is currently only theoretical model that the NFL and select NCAA conferences will attempt. There is evidence that the bubble method has worked in basketball, however. If we can play football without a bubble then why do we need a bubble for basketball?
These early season tournaments are only single eliminations. All teams play multiple games and the same amount of games. Otherwise, the current format for basketball tournaments are already bubbles. What is the benefit of the "bubble" for sport tournaments that are one and done like the NCAA and conference basketball tournaments? It works for the NHL and NBA because there's a limited number of teams playing each other multiple times. Might be applicable for college baseball/softball but where is it better for basketball?
