Bubble Teams - Blind Resumes

Sucks that UCONN and PITT are not what they usually are. Makes our NC SOS (Non-Conference Strenght of Schedule) much worse. Outside of Memphis (twice), Duke, UCONN, Pitt we didn't really play anyone. Most years, that's pretty tough out of conference schedule.

Just win baby and our prayers shall be answered. if not....maybe one more home game or two in the NIT........

I would love to see Uconn go and win the Big East. That would help our RPI quite a bit.

Admittedly, I'm biased...having said that, how can this team not be in the tourney!!

Iona - 25-7
RPI = 43
SOS = 145
vs OOC = 9-3
OOC RPI = 19
OOC SOS = 44
15 Road/Neutral Wins
1-1 vs RPI 50
5-3 vs RPI 100
Nations leading team in scoring and assists!

Easy answer, don't lose to Hofstra in Dec and/or in the semi's of the conf tourney, dammit, when is opening day

/rant over

I do hope Iona gets in. I think they have a better resume (by FAR) than Drexel, and ESPN is riding on Drexel's d*** right now.

Why is Drexel in over them?
Actually, I have no idea. Iona has a better RPI (42 to 66), a better SOS (145 to 210), as many Top 50 wins (1), more Top 100 wins (5 to 4), and both have great road/neutral records (15-7 for Iona compared to 14-6 for Drexel). The only think I can really think of is that Iona has a few bad losses (although so does Drexel).

My only thought was conference they play in???

I don't see it though, to me if it's eithe it shoul be Iona.

I expect in the coming does go Drexel to fall out.

In the RPI, the CAA (Drexel's conference) is 15, and the MAAC (Iona's conference) is 17. Not that much of a difference. Imo, Drexel is feeding off of the past success of the CAA in the tournament. That's not a good reason to get into the tournament.

As I said I expect them to fall of in the coming days, unless other bubble teams lose.

For example, 2 wins and I think we'd hurdle Drexel.

Gottlieb says gotta beat Vandy. For name and rpi sure but what about beating Mississippi St? If we beat them head to head and they are considered to be one of last teams in and we are first out. Couldnt that help our cause knocking them out on a neutral court.

Gottlieb is a tool!

After watching him take that celebrity all star gane more seriously than most pros take a finals matchup I lost any respect for him.

I agree he is a tool, but take a step back. Two wins for Tennessee puts them in and 6 Sec teams in the NCAA.

If Miss State loses to GA Tennessee in with one win. Miss State wins loses to Vandy they are in. Then we have to justify it for the 6th team from the conference.

I am really reading between the lines but think this is the case. Most are looking at this being 6 teams in the tournament with Tennessee being the 6th team.

i feel it is a 4-6 team conference.

you have your locks:
uk
florida
vandy
bama

and 3 teams fighting.
mississippi state
tennessee
ole miss

only 2 of those teams can make it in. i feel all miss st has to do is win one game. tennessee may be able to win one, but to be sure they need to win 2. if this happens the SEC will have 6 teams in the tournament.

then again, miss st could lose 1st round, and auburn could beat ole miss and tennessee. in that case the sec would have 4 teams getting in.

as i said its a 4-6 team league this year. if i had to bet, i would say 6 teams end up in from the sec.

As a UT fan, would you have rather finished 5th in the conference so you could play an extra game in the SECT?

Me. Personally no.

1. I know the committee doesn't look at conference standings and put much weight on it. However, I dont think it can hurt Stovall to finish ahead of 3 teams the committee will select.

2. We need to play the best teams. A win over USCjr in the first round, then a W over Bama in round 2 wouldn't be much of a resume or RPI boost. The 2 wins as a 2 seed are against much better competition than the 2 wind as a 5 seed.

3. The goal should always be to win the sec championship. It's much easier to do that with 3 wins than 4.

I think we need a couple quality wins to guarantee a NCAA trip - so 1 win against a bottom feeder wouldnt do much to move the needle imo

finishing top 4 in a good league is a bigger deal than winning one more against a bottom feeder
