Going to be very interesting to see what happens here in a couple of years when a certain coach decides to finally retire.

I am not a Fire-Fulmer guy, but if we end up looking, our man in is WV, IMO.

Who said anything about Fulmer? I was talking about the mad scramble that is going to occur when Bobby Bowden retires.

Given the level Richt has UGA performing at, I think it's a better job than FSU. The Bulldog faithful has nothing to worry about.

Anyone want to address the prospect of Fulmer coaching against Richt for 8 more years? What is Fulmer 1-4 vs Richt?

Oh, bad guess on my part. So, Bowden's actually going to retire someday. I figured he and Paterno would coach until they couldn't walk anymore.

Richt inherited David Greene. Then DJ Shockley. Both QBs were better than our field generals, Casey Clausen, James Banks, Erik Ainge, Brent Schaeffer, and Rick Clausen. I have a feeling that we will have UGAs number for the next few 5 years.

Sort of . . . He was there when he got the job, but he was a Redshirt freshman who had never played a down of college football.

Greene was an Elite 11 QB coming out of HS. He was recruited by Donnan. He became SEC Freshman of the Year. Also, it could be argued, that through Greene, Richt inherited David Pollack (HS teammates.) Richt also inherited the Bailey brothers. That is a lot of talent that Donnan brought into the program. Richt performed superbly with his own guys last year. However, I will wait to see if that performance continues, without a dominating QB or defensive standouts, before I crown tremble in my boots at the thought of playing UGA over the next 8 years.

Matt Stafford will make the folks in Athens forget David Greene.

I tend to agree. No matter who gets the starting job in the opener, it's really just a matter of how fast Stafford picks up the offense. It wouldn't be the first time Richt has gone with a freshman QB.

UGA has its own set of problems this year. Don't think their streak vs the Vols will hold up. Wonder if he gets extra $$ for the "waterboy".

If I remember correctly, UGA took a chance of Pollack. I don't think he was too highly valued coming out of high school.

Big class All State in Georgia, also earned the distinction of Best Defensive Lineman in the Atlanta Metro Area...

There really is no reason for Richt to have beaten Fulmer 4 out of 5 years other than the fact that he's had a better team and more talent the past few years...Other than last year, we had a better team last year we just didn't show it...Maybe I shouldn't say team, we had more talent than they did sounds about right we just couldn't put that talent together for a good team

he may have signed for 1.7, but i'm sure he'll be up for raises in the future....

as for his success against fulmer, i would guess that he'll do fine, he has thus far....

and i am also not sure what happens when bowden retires....i'm sure he'll get a serious look by FSU, but it will depend on where that program is when he does decide to retire....i can't see it just being in shambles, and by that time, i'm sure Richt will have more than proven himself as THE HC candidate for that job....that will be interesting for sure.

I think UT wins the next 2, Stafford becomes ALL WORLD BEATER, and we lose 2 straight. We'll see.

Strangely enough, probably our most overmatched team, given the quarterback situation, was the one that went into Athens and beat them. Odd things happen in football.
