Kevin Burnett

DALLAS - Tennessee linebacker Kevin Burnett has been named to the 2004 Bronko Nagurski Watch List for the best defensive players in college football regardless of position the Football Writers Association of America announced.

The winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, presented by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club, will be named on Dec. 6 at a banquet in Charlotte, N.C. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops will be the keynote speaker.

Last season s Bronko Nagurski winner was Oklahoma defensive back Derrick Strait, who was the second Sooner to win the award in three seasons. Oklahoma defensive back Roy Williams won the award in 2001.

The FWAA will select a defensive player of the week during the 2004 season. Top defensive performances around the country will be submitted by schools and conferences. And an FWAA committee will select the winner from those nominees.

That's some good pub for Kevin. I hope he has a year like he is capable of.

Our linebackers will be the best in country by far.

I agree! It's great when you can take the Kevin's out, and put in Omar, Daniel, Jason Mitchell, and Marvin Mitchell, and see absolutely no drop off. Plus, we have Robert and Jared now. It will be great to see what htey can bring to the table.

Should be a very special group of LB's. Definitely the strong point of the team going into the season.

Sounds like somebody besides me was a little let down by Mr. Burnett last year.

I wouldn't say that I was let down (maybe a little), I just don't think we have really gotten to see what he can really do yet. This should be his year to shine.
