During the race several comments were made about how the Kentucky track produces 1st time winners and how it usually doesn't have Cup drivers.Point being does NASCAR say you guys can't race here on this date or is it a "unwritten rule,Gentlemans agreement"sort of deal. Then is it just chance and I've maybe i have watched too many X-Files episodes!

I think it's mostly because it's not a companion event to the Cup Series.

Carl Edwards was on the way to victory before Blinky got him, anyway.

No, there is no rule that says Nextel Cup drivers can or can't race in certain races, it just so happens that the Kentucky race falls on the same weekend when the Nextel Cup Series races at Michigan, so most of the Cup drivers don't make the trip. Some do, like Edwards and Yeley did tonight, but most choose to stay in Michigan.

Maybe one day Nascar will realize what a disgrace this is for cup drivers to enter a busch race at all.

The only races you see where an unknown or an actual busch driver that has no affiliations with a cup team are Kentucky, Nashville, Gateway, Memphis, Milwaukee. Nazareth and PPIR use to before they were closed down and torn up.

Also Rusty needs to realize his son has no business behind a car. Something bad's going to happen one day with Stephen driving. I remember with 50 laps to go they were bragging on him and I said out loud he's going to screw something up and sure enough he did.

The only thing about not allowing Cup drivers to race in the Busch series is, without the Cup drivers, the Busch series would really really suffer. Attendance at Busch races, especially at companion events with the Cup series, is mostly brought out because of the Cup drivers who enter. Let's face it, the Busch series racing isn't all that much better than the Cup racing, and who is going to show up to see bad racing between 40 guys we've never heard of?

Your right about that, I used to be totally against cup drivers racing in the Busch series, but who would watch it if no cup drivers were in it? Congrats to Steven Leight, he seems like a good guy....Steve Wallace needs to find a new career, driving isnt his thing....one cool thing about the low-key Busch tracks is that you get to meet alot of the drivers since the crowds arent as bad...we go to the Gateway race every year in STL, and last year we got to meet Edwards, Kenny Wallace, and about 5 others Busch regulars.....even got to see Carl do his flip :good!:

Agreed.

He has caused or been in countless number of wrecks.

But see it worked before without the over population of cup drivers. I mean cup drivers have always drove in the Busch series, but in these past 5 years at least have of the field each week in the Busch series is made of cup regulars. Looks at the points, my man Harvick won last year by around 800 and Edwards is going to win this year by over 1000 points. Initially the Busch Series would be terrible if they pulled out all of the cup drivers because there is a limited amount of Busch teams, but after a season or two there would be more Busch teams and we would eventually have a series again. It really makes Nascar look bad when over half of the top 10 in the Busch Series points dont even run the full schedule.

You can't have teams without sponsors. You won't get the sponsors without the big-name drivers or established Cup teams. Right or wrong, that's just the way it is anymore.

Yeah, the Busch series does look like a joke, it's basically "Cup lite". But, what can you do? What's the solution? I don't think there is one.
