In an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN yesterday, Bush stated N. Korea never has invaded its neighbors thus a different way of treating them compared to Iraq:

BLITZER: The point though being that -- at least to my mind -- the weapons of mass destruction issue, in your mind, even as a candidate running for president, was a trigger potentially that could lead to war.

BUSH: Well, of course Saddam -- I viewed Saddam Hussein for what he was, a threat. He was declared a state sponsor of terror, Wolf, by previous administrations.

BLITZER: But there are other countries that have been declared state sponsors of terror, like North Korea, like Syria, Cuba. You don't go to war against them.

BUSH: Well, North Korea hadn't invaded its neighbors. North Korea, you know, hadn't made declarations of intent. North Korea is relatively isolated compared to Iraq.

Let's see...since Kim Jung Il came to power, N. Korea has made been involved in zero wars, battles, military campaigns, etc.

Since Saddam Hussein came to power(pre 2003), Iraq has been involved in 2 wars (Iran and Kuwait), and from the end of the Gulf War until around 1998-9, still took military action against US aircraft patrolling Iraq.

It is this line of journalism and questioning that is absolutely ludicrous and ridiculous, and has rendered the main stream media absolutely useless.

It's the same family and regime in power. And N. Korea has not ever invaded it's neighbors? Do you not think N. Korea a threat?

Funny how they are grouped with Iraq in the Axis of Evil but somehow they get bumped to the side as not being so threatening after all.

And, I would consider packing up and heading outta Oregon if Bush starts messing with North Korea.

I would like to hear a conclusive argument from anyone on why we should not have attacked Iraq and removed Saddam Hussein from power. Be sure to include the exact reasons in which Iraq should not have been a higher priority than N. Korea.

You must have missed N. Korea's test firing of its ballistic missiles. Granted I would not want to be on a fishing boat within 100 miles of N. Korea's shore if Il was aiming for Washington state...

Nothing? Oh... I thought they were launching missiles over Japan or some such nonsense.

Negative, Milo. Keep in mind, these are the missiles that Korea is supplying Iran with.
[FONT=Verdana,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]"The long-range Taepo Dong-2 crashed into a beach on the east coast about two kilometers from the launching site after traveling normally for 40 seconds," a spokesman of the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

I don't necessarily have a problem with attacking Iraq and removing Saddam, but I am not sure it was the smartest move or whether it was executed properly. With Saddam in power, he somewhat kept Iran in a different position than what they are in now. Now it seems like Iran and Iraq are ready to be buddies, buddies that both hate the US.

They're about as accurate as our ABM's. And if you paid attention during that last firing you would have noted that they gathered more intel on our responses and communications than we could have ever imagined. I guess their test was far worth the value than we give them credit for.

In Bush's defense, he probably doesn't even know who North Korea's neighbors are.

If I've done my homework correctly, it was also funded by the Iranians. Intelligence suggests they were interested to see how fast 8 batteries could fire missiles, simultaneously...the goal: see how good we would be at overwhelming an Israeli missile defense system.

Maybe the strategy with N Korea is just wait them out since they are soooo poor and hope they die on the vine.

We've been waiting since '53. Clinton and Albright had the "wait them out" policy and it shows no sign of happening a decade after than policy.

North Korea's people have been living in absolute squalor for a long time, but the government has been able to keep itself on life support.

When you have China propping them up with that trade surplus they have feeding their economy, you'll never see N. Korea implode.
