Wow, Bush still does not get it. The current recession will hurt more people than any terrorist attack. Perhaps if he had concentrated on the homeland a little more, we would not be in the worst recession in 80 years. Talk about stubborn in his ways. Reminds me of a football coach we once employed.

worst recession in 80 years? I don't think so.

look at the economic conditions the country was experiencing at the end of the Carter administration.

70% top marginal tax rate
home mortgage rates in the 20's
double digit inflation
double digit unemployment

now, imagine a terrorist attack on the port of Los Angeles that pretty much destroys the busiest port in the country. It hasn't happened. Why? because Bush did place emphasis on the homeland, that's why we haven't been attacked in 7 1/2 years.

You have not seen the bottom of this recession, quite possibly heading for a depression, yet. Any president that does not put our economy as his current number one priority, should not be president. Personally, I think GWB has put too much emphasis on IRAQ.

PS...By the way I voted for GWB twice, but then again I used to think PF was a good coach...what the hell do I know.....

so, we're not currently in the worst recession in 80 years, but we could be.

I gotcha now.

Our safety is most important, period. The attack on the twin towers was aimed at our economy. They go hand in hand.

Good question.... But seriously folks......All we need is Iran with nuclear weapons to give out to all their terrorists surrogates to plant in the West and Israel.

National security should ALWAYS be first priority for any POTUS!

If we aren't safe, nothing else matters. "I wonder how my stocks are doing today", usually isn't on people's mind when they are under attack.

yah, lets go over to tel aviv and ask some of them about their stocks when the hezbollah is launching rockets at them

Terrorist attack will lead to an even greater recession, therefore by aristotilian logic Terrorist Attack>recession problem

IMO, national security is one of the few things the gov't should do for the people. I would much prefer that to them ever touching the economy to "fix" it (especially the new group coming in)

those are also the guys who sat idly by in watching hordes of world financial institutions buy shoddily underwritten mortgages and helped instigate this housing crisis.

In four years, if people are unemployed and homeless, I doubt they will re-elect a president based on the fact that a terrorist attack did not occur. Besides, I did not say it should not be a priority, just that the economy should be the top priority for the near future.

PS. Starving to death is not exactly a pleasant way to go either.

The answer to your first question is yes. I was living in China at the time, and there is a 12 hour difference, so yes I was asleep. Good guess on your part.:hi:

Other than getting himself and the government the hell out of the way(which he is not going to do), what exactly do you think he is going to do to fix the economy? He can make it his Triple A, Five Star, Code Red priority and it won't matter one bit.

I never said I thought he could fix the economy. Frankly, I hope so, but I doubt it. I just said it should be his top priority. I think your assuming I voted for BO.

I did not make any assumption about what candidate received your vote. I see no reason for him to make it his top prority when he can do very little good concerning the subject.
